Contact Barlows and see if their prices are better, same or worse.

Whoops, sorry, Port Clinton, Ohio is my town. I'll get my profile filled out soon.

JT- I did, Brady offered $500 less on any package plus I'll save the 7% tax rate. Do you think my local dealer has enough room to come down 7%? Should I even request it? I feel kinda dirty playing prices against dealers... Even though customers do that to me all:rolleyes:the time...

I think it would be fair to talk to your local dealer and ask for a rock bottom price. Let him know that you would rather buy from him due to service down the road. Be honest (at least I would be).

Have you built your own price at the Kubota website.?? If not, do it and take off 10 to 15%. That price should be ballpark, regardless of where you buy.

In these times I think it is important to keep things local whenever possible.

I feel kinda dirty playing prices against dealers...YOUR not PLAYING prices, you have a legitimate price and your revealing it to see if they can match the price and make the sale. Wouldn't you want a customer to tell you exactly what they have on the line and if you'll match it they'll buy from you? Going back to Brady if they match him and then back to them is playing prices, in my buying opinion. Even though customers do that to me all:rolleyes:the time...

I've always figured about $500 maybe $400 is the value to me of having a local dealer. Fortunately for me Barlows is my local dealer. I like them (12 times plus two model BX22's) but knowing they all pay really close to the same price (some of the tractors on a dealers lot haven't had any thing paid for them, they belong to Kubota so dealers don't actually have any cash dollars sitting there, some of them) and one dealer wants to make more than $500 more from me than another dealer does, then I don't think they like me as much as I like them.
I would tell my local dealer the price I've found and ask them if they can match it, straight up, no hum hawing, buts, stuttering, tell them the price. If they say no then you know they want to make more profit on you than another dealer. Then ask them to tell you straight up, no back and forth their bottom price delivered to you total, taxes and all.......DELIVERED.
Then you decide how much you "like em" in dollars and cents.
I don't really care how much they make percentage wise. I care more how much it's going to cost me to buy one after doing research of how much they really sell for with ready and able buyers. I don't want to pay more unless it's getting me something more. Peace of mind, local pick up for service, filled tires, first service free......etc
Be a man, call your dealer.

The above prices are around 10% lower than the online "build your own" kubota.com prices, that's why I was wondering if asking for another 7% off is staring a gift horse in the mouth.

The local dealer IS worth paying more for, they're very knowledgeable, were one of the first Kubota dealers in the USA, and have excellent warranty and repair services and "perks" for their customers. I DO want to buy from them. In any dealership scenario the cost of equipment is generally the same between dealers, I was looking to the more experienced buyers on this board to let me know if asking for another 7% off is foolish or not. Also, it's not my local dealers fault that I have to pay 7% more to purchase in-state.

JT- Don't get me confused, I'm not afraid to haggle on price, in fact, I do a good job of embarrassing the wife when garage-saleing... Also, what are your feelings between the bx25 and b2320 w/BH if one was to be digging footers and creating driveways? Does the more oomph of the b2320 warrant the added expense?

I've owned a couple of B's but not a B with a BH. Just the current BX25 with a BH. The BH on the BX25 digs good with the size bucket on the BH. It won't pull out deep rooted roots and stumps easily. It digs a trench with precision but I'm not sure I'd be doing footers for a living with a BX. Just for myself and home acreage the BX is fine. Creating drive ways is to broad for me. How long and what type soil and any hurry. Long drive on hard ground, I'd hire a bull dozer to come and do a few passes then I'd finish with my BX or more maintain with my BX. The BX is a small powerful tractor with a small powerful BH but smaller is more time consuming but BX's can do most jobs, in time. Biggest difference for me in BX and B is B has higher ground clearance if that's important and a bit bigger oomph in lift and a bit bigger bucket. I've found that specialized equipment (dozer, track loader, ditching machine) can do a better job in a fraction of the time over a do all machine (tractor). Some jobs I do because I want to do them and some times I'm not sure what I want until I get started doing it myself my way. Other jobs I know what I want and cost vs time constraints and wearing out my machine has me calling in Roy Vice with his track loader. Hope this helps.

Hello to the walleye capital!!

I have a local dealership (75 miles away) that I really like. I still gave Brady a call at Barlows. Armed with Barlows price, I still made that local dealer match it. Well, almost. He got within $200. Good enough, as I really do like this local guy.

But then, I made him throw in the 5 filters for HST, Air, hydro, oil, fuel. He did and I called that even. Since the tractor was for Ag use, I didn't have to pay sales tax in Michigan anyhow. This was on the B2320HSD.

Since your price list has both BXs and 20 series Bs on it, you are also facing the decision of which tractor on your list will best suit your needs.

The difference, for me, having owned them both, comes down to ground clearance. That, (and the larger 3 pt hitch geometry and more gpm in the pump for increased hydraulic power), as being the single most important difference between the two series. If you are interested, I wrote a review, from a real world point of view, doing different chores, between the BX1860 and B2320 as I moved on to last fall.

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/.../185147-bx1860-vx-b2320-contrast-compare.html

As you can see from your own price sheets, there's isn't much monetary difference between the top of the BX line and the bottom of the B line. In a monthly payment, the difference is inconsequential. BTW, the engine in the BX2660 and the B2320 are the same D1005. Kubota merely "rates" them at a different RPM to achieve a different result.

Kubota markets these tractors in "stair step' fashion. Each little step brings slightly more features, at slightly more money. Something for everyone.
