went to my farm property today to find the fence run down. luckily it was into a paddock I was storing hay rounds and no animals had access to it.

jerk left some plastic to the front of his car.. his beer bottles and burned off on down the street.. left my fence onthe ground. could have at least stood it back up or called the tel number on my no tresspass sign and anonymously told me from a pay phone.

I hope his car is EXPENSIVE to fix... :(

Me too. Actually, I hope he punctured his radiator and was too dumb to stop until it cooked his engine

That's a shame it happened. People just don't think anymore.

:laughing::laughing: I cannot remember the last time I saw a pay phone.:laughing::laughing:

But I agree with the sentiment. :D

After we bought our land I put up a cable across our private road with flagging all over it in a feeble effort to keep people out. You could step right over the cable. The cable was held up with some very cheap, thin metal posts that were in the woods.

I showed up one day and the cable was not right. I had to un hooked the cable, no lock. :D I said it was a feeble attempt. :D The posts had been bent up pretty good. There was a few bits of plastic here and there from the front of a car.

Best I could tell they wanted to go "park" up on our road for some privacy late at night. The figured the cable was low enough that they could slowly drive over it. So they tried. Looks like they left $500, give or take, from the front end of the car. :D:D

Dan

Happens to me all the time, but I always catch them (day or night). They really get upset when I write down the license plate number, call the police and file a clam against their insurance company (very expense fence repair when I have to start a tractor, I always rent my tractor to myself for a few days).

that's the 2nd time in as many years. first time my cows got out and a neighbor led them back in with feed and propped the fence back up till I got there.

you know.. in as long as I have been driving.. i have never managed to run thru a fence? what gives?

the road my farm on really has no thru traffic. 99% of it is from the 30 or so people that live along it's length. i feel like driving the road tomorrow am with a pair of binoc's and see who belongs to that chunk of nose clip planted in my pasture.. then call the cops on them... then file a claim on their auto or homeowners ( whatever they might have ) for my time and work..

The empty bottles probably say a lot. It happens everywhere. Snowmobile riders ran over a neighbors horse fence last year. It was a minimal fence, but horses were inside it. They couldn't be bothered to fix it or, even like you say call someone. There aren't that many strangers around here riding snow sleds, it was probably someone local to the community. That's what I find really sad about people attitudes.

This sounds like "once upon a time", but it's for real! There was a "T" intersection and across from the leg was an access road for the power company with a 1/2" steel cable stretched between 2 telephone poles. It was a foggy day, couldn't see more than 20 feet. The leg of the T has a stop sign, warning signs that there is a stop ahead, and rumble strips. I heard a car coming down the road at pretty fast speed, ignored the rumble strips, warning signs, and the stop sign. Blew across the major road (fortunately no other cars nearby) and was stopped by the cable. I waited to see if he survived. He did, he got out walked around to the front of his car, and I left. This was out in the country so he had a ways to walk to get to a phone, and was before cell phones were common. When I got back that night the car was gone so I don't know how badly damaged it was, but the engine was not running when he got out. I suspect the cable cut his radiator and pushed it into the fan. I didn't feel sorry for the idiot one bit! But, he was somewhat lucky, any other place he would have ended up in the canal and would have stopped a lot quicker and had water in his car.
