What gets me here is the county bought a new Bransone 70 HP cab tractor. They also bought a new sidemount bushhog. I came home as they were mowing the ditches. I hears a noise and went out side and they had moxed over the ditch and hit the corner post. He was trying to mow my already pruned privet hedges. I called the supervisor and he came and promised to fix it and never did. I fixed it and it happened again. The next time I drove a big pipe in the ground and they had to fix the new mower. I didnt mind the first time but the not fixing it chapped me a bit.

you know.. in as long as I have been driving.. i have never managed to run thru a fence? what gives?

It's not how long you've been drivin it's how long you been drinkin and drivin.
I'm guessing that it's on a curve and not well lit. You could build a barrier but then if drunk guy got killed you would be liable.
I dunno what to tell you other then it could've been worse. perhaps if it is a couty maintained rd you could call tham and ask for some signage?

straightaway, and was about 15' from a pole with a street lamp unfortunately..

it's an old prescriptive road. county has row access via deed, but it's seldom maintained. it's in a grey area between private road and county road.

911 and county plot map list it like any other county road.. but sinage is inverse color pattern indicating private road ( which is is actually not a private road )

A very long time ago when my driving skills were far better than they are today, I managed to take out a mailbox near where I lived. It was 0200 so I just went home.

When I returned the following morning at 0800, the owner was standing there holding the broken post and wrecked mailbox. I told him I was on my way to get the new materials and it would be up before the end of the day.

It took a while but I finished the work. He came out just as I was cleaning up and said it was all he could do not to come out and help me but thought I needed the time to think about my driving habits.

One of my friends grew up in the 70's as a teenager they had a large farm set up about 2000 acres. He said it was him and his 3 brothers and father all working day in and out. THe only night off they got was saturday and was headed home. He said I was 17 and had a sharp convertible and wanted to go out. On the way home the main highway was 72 and all 2 lane. He said the right tire blew out on the fold up chisel plow. He said it was all over the road. WHen he got home He saw 6 mail boxes some with post and all hung in the back section. He said when he went to town he had a big time past curfew as he knew it would be a while till he got to go out again lol.

One night I ran off the road and hit an old mans fence. One of these PVC fences I was sick when I went to his door to tell him. I had picked up a truck I traded for and didnt know it had a collapsed brake line on the front. I had to brake hard for a dog crossing the road and the next thing I was across the ditch and had knocked out a post. The old man had met me down the drive way he had seen it and it was his dog that ran out infront of me. He was thankful I hadnt hit his dog and offered to pay for my truck. I told him I wasnt worried about the truck. We patched the fence and we remained friends till he passed away.

Chris, I have a neighbor who has a fence where our road makes a 90 degree bend at the bottom of a hill. He's had his fence destroyed nine times by people who drive through it and drive off. The last time, we buried telephone poles 5' in the ground by 8' above ground and about 6' apart for 100' of fence right on the corner. Since then, nobody has run through the fence. It just seems that those poles are so intimidating that nobody takes a chance on going too fast anymore. My neighbor says that at least if somebody drives through his fence, they won't be driving away unless they are towed.

Our township was mowing the sides of the road and it a stump which kicked the mower up into a dogwood tree i had planted. Cut the tree right down. I really didnt care they were free trees and I cant see them from the house. The guy mowing felt so bad, he came back a couple of days later with two peach trees. Really makes me happy to live in this township. A lot of stand up people running the show.

20 something years ago(42 now) I was younger and a little wilder. I was coming home from a late night poker game and took a corner too fast. I slid off the road and took out a fence, it ripped the lights off my Trans Am. After I finally got out of these peoples back lot I went to the front door. After knocking several times I left a note with a lame excuse about a dog or something. I put on the note my name phone # and a promise to repair the fence.
I did the repair the next day I used 5x5 cedar posts, patched in new woven and restretched, just as original.
It was the hottest day of the year up to that point, I kid you not. It sucked with a hang over.

The owner was impressed, told me that the fence has been hit alot and I was the first to fix it.
