I have sold a few sections of pipe like that for creek crossings. I didnt have to do anything except figure out how to spend the money. Thats a job I can handle any day.

I can't think of the proper name for it right this moment but go to a construction rental store and get one of those chainsaw motor things with the round cutting blade. cheap and portable should do the job. a stihl concrete cutoff saw with a 14 inch metal cutting blade.

I'm not sure if it's possible or practical. I was telling my neighbor about a couple pieces of old pipe i found next to a woods road (trying to figure out a way to break them up into manageable pieces to get the $800+- scrap value) when he mentioned he could use some of it for grates in his maple syrup evaporator. That sounds like more fun... suggestions anyone?
bigger tractor!

Ditto on the "sell it for scrap".

I've been using my demo saw more and more lately for cutting different metals, no way your gonna cut very far through 1 inch cast. If you try better start with a big box of wheels.JB.

I think that's what we're going to realise;however, free advice is always worth the effort.
That's a monster pipe! Any idea what it was used for? Metro water main is the only thing I can think of.

JB.

I suspect it originally was used for a water or sewer main. Right now it's setting in the ditch by a woods road so it's last use was obviously as a culvert. Whatever it's final use, we'll have fun getting it there.:mur:

We have learned by many posts that you have to have dry air going into the plasma cutter to cut with because it will burn up consumables and the machine don't like it.

I have a question, If you have dry air going into the machine like is recommended but the metal that you are cutting is wet or damp is it ok to cut that metal or should you let it dry first? I have some metal off of the top of a building that I want to cut up but don't want it inside the garage to do it and it don't look like it is going to dry up anytime soon. The metal has some salvageable sections that I can use and some that has too much rust to use. All of the metal that I have cut so far has been dry, I just want to cut this up so I can sort the good and discard the bad. Thanks.

A lot of CNC plasma tables cut with the material right at water level, even seen some that the plate is submerged.
The water tank under my CNC plasma table is about 4-inches lower than the cutting grates. But water still splashes up onto the material. If I don't get at least 250 to 300-feet out of my nozzle and electrode before seeing any difference in cutting, something is very wrong.;)
