There are so many attachments available, it really would help to know exactly what you are going to do with the BX that you can't already do with the L. It would also help to know a list of all the attachments you already have for the L and what you use them for. Does the L have a FEl and BH? If so, do you really need the BX25, i.e. would a BX2360 meet her needs? For digging these holes, are they post holes or are you excavating for a swimming pool, i.e. would a BX2360 with a PHD meet your needs or do you really need the BH?

Actually I have a pile of attachments for the L: box blade, chisel bit, post hole digger, shredder, chipper, seed spreader, disc, tiller, etc. I can do almost anything but backhoe type digging. So the reason for the BX25 is two fold. 1) my wife likes to mow (seriously) and this will last longer than a typical riding mower. 2) the backhow will be handy for digging holes - everything from planting trees to digging footings to the occasional trench. I could go with the BX2360 and then get a backhoe for the L, but I think that would actually cost more, and I don't think I need that big of a backhoe. When we need to do serious backhoe work, I just rent one.

I was tempted for years to get a BH but I could never justify to myself buying one for the cost and I'm easy to talk myself into buying tractor stuff. I even posted a request on the forum for help with uses for a BH. Not much response. Finally decided to get a F 4wd Kubota for mowing home and one F 2wd for mowing rental property. Rental property has 6 septic tanks so since I was going to share one tractor for home and rental property I decided a BX25 would do both locations and I could split it 50/50 for Business and Personal. Haven't taken it to the Business yet for it's 50% but will. Couldn't give up the BX25 BH now. It is so handy and put 50 hours on the BX25 faster than any of my other tractors.
Looks like you have this well thought out and a solid plan to me. Get the BX25 if you can afford the small monthly payments or even if you can pay cash for it.
Tom looks at the down side of the economy and for good reason from his personal experience but I believe the tractors can always be sold and most of the money recouped if necessary. If not 100% then very little to make up and less to make up each month of ownership. After one year or less of ownership then I believe any of them would sell for more than what's owed on it with reasonable care and hours of use.

Thanks all for your input. Last Saturday we went to the dealer in Marble Falls, TX. Before hand I told him I'd like to not just look at it, but wanted to see how everything connected and disconnected. We spent an hour or two: took the mid mower off, put it back on; took off the backhoe, put it back on; put the 3-point hitch on and off. I'm very impressed with the design of everything.

We bought the BX25 tractor that day (actually been looking at the BX line for a year). For extras I added the 3-point hitch, sun shade top, 60-inch mid mower, and rear work light. At the same time we bought an Armstrong LR5 Rock Rake. They delivered everything Thursday - attached are a couple of pictures.
