I have a new grapple and can't figure how to connect the QD? Hydraulic hoses. I can't get the female to snap over and make a seal on either hose.

I have pushed pulled jiggled jammed....almost kicked

Feeling pretty stupid

I had a QD that had standing pressure in the implement and I could not push it onto the tractor connects. I even built the implement and it was last used in the cool weather and it was now summer. You can try to depress the center of the fitting with a brass punch or loosen the threaded connector. I had a male end and I wrapped in a clean cloth and banged it with a hard OAK stick until the oil pressure droped then I pushed it home.

Tim, welcome to TBN.
Seems like everyone has troubles with the Quick Disconnects from time to time.
And when you're having problems QD seems like an Oxymoron. :D

First make sure you have the pressure released from the lines. I've gone as far as loosening the connection a little then re-tighten. Also check the collar on the female that you pull back for connection. I had one that was cracked and spent over an hour playing around till I looked close and found the crack. Replace the connector and everything worked fine.

I have problems with my grapple quick connects- usually the female one which connects to the male one on the loader crossbar- I have tried all the pressure relief stuff- even unhooking the other hose end at the diverter- I found that if i put a small board for extra surface area and gently apply pressure with my knee while pulling back the connector shield thing I have been successful. I have not sworn more at my tractor than attaching this one connector for my grapple hydraulic.

Brain storm
Has any one tried a valve spring compressor to pull a set together?

or a battery terminal remover to depress the male ball.

How about a little more info, like have they ever mated before? You mentioned it was "new" so possibly the male and female are not of the same type.

That would be way overkill!

That would be way overkill!

My first thought also, Are they a mated set? assuming they are...

I don't know, maybe something like that screw in puller wouldn't be bad.

I had one on my loader that was so bound up with pressure behind the ball, a slow release from something like that would of been better than what happened to me.

Like I said mine wouldn't connect and I knew it was pressure in the female, tried playing with the loader stick, moving in all directions. Figured I had to depress the ball like I've done several times with male ends of snow plow lines, a little tap on the plow frame and a little fluid would ooze out, then would go together.

Tapped it a little, then a little more, then a pretty good whack and you guessed it I took a slippery shower:( Had a rag around it thinking what might happen, but didn't expect that amount of fluid would be released.

EDIT: I said female end but it may of been one of the male ends from the loader.

I know but some people just won't tap the ball on the male end on machine with a rag over it (what I do) and over think it.
I never not been able to put one together unless it had a mechanical problem like the slide on the female got crunched.
