Winter Storm of Feb 1-3

   / Winter Storm of Feb 1-3 #21
Because of the mild weather we have been having, snow has melted around shed doors and then refroze. Had to chip the ice away at bottom of door to get tractor out Saturday and will probably have to do it again tommorrow. I have never had a problem like this before this year. The water is not flowing away from shed, seem to be flowing into shed this year.

Same problem here. And I don't like it

Anyone know if a Honda 2k watt generator would run a furnace?

Have done it for a few years now. But I have a baseboard hot water heat with a circulater and newer ref. I also run lights too with no issues, done this for the last few years that we have lost power. Funny it seems like when one of my neighbors cows fart we loose , lol

May as well get this thread started, cause if the weather folks are right, this will be huge. Effecting 28 states, they say. Hard to predict specifics, as this one may be dangerous in a narrow band, leaving others untouched 100 miles away. Stayed tuned.

Got a feeling this one is going to be bad.

We got the cold part of it with a little snow yesterday(~8 inches). It went from a high of 48F on Saturday to a low of 11F yesterday and was 7F this morning heading for -13F tonight. Apparently is' going to get some moisture from the South and pound the heck out of the Midwest and NE.

You folks need to make sure that your fuel is treated, your tanks are filled, and plug your machines in so they'll be ready to go. This is supposed to be a bad one. i hope they are wrong.

More proof that common sense is being bread out of the average American.
This is not the first time I've heard of some person suggesting removing snow from a roof by wetting it down. :confused2:

Wedge

The Lowes here puts a snow blower on the roof. Just a little walk behind one, but it gets the snow off the roof.

I have a Champion generator and according to the Wattage reference chart, a furnace with a 1/3 hp fan motor draws 2000 watts starting and 1200watts running. Hope this helps.:D

Snow is here in Milwaukee Wi. Expecting 15-20" by Wednesday and blizzard conditions. I think my tractor and snowblower will be getting a workout.
