where are you located? is (Awendaw) anywhere close by Jefferson?
I don't mean to steer you away from Yanmar, but there is a good deal local to me on the CL,
would seem like the next best thing to a Yanmar :D
tractor 4x4

Awendaw is abouve charleston about 45 mins, but before you get to georgetown on Hwy 17. Jefferson is near the Bomb plant or more towards Allendale.

I've been perusing the Fredricks site and finally figured out models and pricing...
liking the 2610D and 2820D

If we purchase from there, I'm hoping one of our customers will have a truck passing through/near there to pick up tractor and deliver to business location. We sell Mack/Volvo trucks so here's to hopin'!

Oh my....
Pops is involved now and he likes the color green. Not sure if this will be a good or bad thing, but he has had his eye on a JD 3005 for a year or two...

hmmm...

Thanks for all y'alls help, by the way.

edit....
Oh my...he's talking to the timber company now to see about harvesting some of the pines to 1) clear land and 2) pay for tractor.
By the time this is all said and done, he's going to have some 100hp + monstrosity as he can't stand being outdone by anyone! ;)

You might want to talk to these folks.

https://www.mmequipmentandparts.com/

Hartsville, SC -- NW of Florence Handle MF, Yanmar, JD and others.

Haven't seen them mentioned here, but they had a listing on CL last month.

When I was looking I also considered Kubotas.

Good luck!

 My Kind Of Place. The Tractors and Equipment I can recall the area pretty well. When my Grandfather retired he moved from WV.and had a Dillon SC. mailing address wasn't much out there back then.

Unless you are on a sand ridge, which i doubt you are, not is not the time to sell timber in that part of the country, esp with all the rain we have been having. Unless your an all weather tract your going to take a beating on the price as they will hedge their bets. Pulp is strong right now, my guess is it should sell between $10-14/ ton in your area and for the old school that is $26-37/cord, but again your prolly a flatwoods tract with flatwoods black dirt that has no bottom, i would not sell right now unless you get a decent price and give them at least a year to get it out. You can still request an advance on that stumpage though at closing. Please get some advice and dont think cause yall have always sold it your self that you can do it. Trust me they can tell and you may not get the best price. I may be overstepping my bounds here as to your familys ability to negotiate a timber sale, but i know what im talking about i do it for a living.

The area we will be doing (if we do it) is on the high part of the property and soil is sandy. Will clear around the cell tower that is on the property. We haven't been getting too much rain out there. Last time I went up there a week ago, it was dry. Walked the perimeter of the property and there was some standing water on the lower end, but none on upper end. There is a good drainage system around this area that my g'pa dug years and years ago. Also, timber guy is going to just give us his opinion. He is also a customer of the dealership's and have been very happy with his previous work on the property.

Appreciate your input, though.

Just trying to help out. My prices should reflect current market conditions in that area. Lowside i would not take less than $8/ton today, that is if its a workable sized area. If you oly want an acre here and there cut you will get a lower price but if you have at least 2000+ tons in one or 2 spots close you should see my price. If it spread out or a bunch of smaller spots your price will reflect that.

It's definitely not going to be a lot of acreage cut, but this is one of the reasons we are using this fellow. Not a huge operation and trustworthy. The pines on the lowland are only 10 or so years old so they have a ways to go.

To even get 5K toward the purchase of a tractor your still talking 40 loads at a cut rate price of $5/ton which in say 15 yr (just made this up as it sounds as though they have not been thinned) old planted pines will equate to about 10 acres if they are running 4 loads to the acre, which i dont quite think they would be.
