This is what can happen

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, it's just that nowadays someone is capturing everything everyone else does on video. I went to a tractor/truck pull and saw a few guys with newer trucks lined up to hook to the sled and give it a go in the stocker classes. I wondered what would happen if something expensive let go during the competition, and video evidence later surfaced showing the, ummm...."non-approved" duty the vehicle was exposed to. I've yet to see a warranty booklet that doesn't offer up specific exclusions for competition use of any type.

This happened several years running at our local county fair. A few of the Dodge boys would show up with their Cummins powered truck. Pull in the stock class on Saturday. Show up at the Dodge dealer on Monday because their tranny was slipping or whatever it was. Little did they know that my cousin (lead mechanic at the dealer) and his buddy (the service advisor) was sitting in the stand. Recognized the trucks and when they came in Monday morning complaining, immediately denied the warranty claim and made a note in the system so it couldn't be taken to another dealership. Had 2 or 3 of them for several years in a row. Probably still happening, but my cousin went to a different dealer in a different town, so I don't hear the stories now.

I would bet the dealer could prove that abuse was evident, by pulling up the computer chip in the truck. They always use it when there is an accident, especially envolving fatalitys, or heavy damages.??.

How on earth can someone call an ice drag abuse? Its gentler on a truck than merging on the freeway because you can't just floor it.

Its not like snowmobile dragging with a track studded with sharpened ice picks!

Same with a pulling sled. It may or may not be as hard as pulling a big trailer or wagon out of a field.

Not the same a pulling sled! A pull sled always weighs more than the max tow rating, and then lowers the weight onto the ground in a dead drag so the truck has to run at max torque/drawbar pull under the trailer stops. Its very stressful on components, especially if it gets hopping!

Good job, you may have to go pro. I've dragged raced a few times, and its a lot of fun.

As far as insurance goes, I don't think they cover this kind of stuff. I have a Dodge Challenger that is just a few months old, and I'd like to drag race it this spring, but am a little concerned about what would happen in a wreck. Its really pretty safe, but things happen.

Did anybody try the race with the traction ctrl on?

how much wheel spin did you let happen? or was it
the key, not to let it happen,,,

I'd have to say its alot safer on a track, than on a back road somewhere like alot of guys do. And I'd bet alot of guys have done that (like at stop lights and such).

After seeing what this truck does on ice, I would like to see what it would do on a regular 1/4 mile at least once.:p
