Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, it's just that nowadays someone is capturing everything everyone else does on video. I went to a tractor/truck pull and saw a few guys with newer trucks lined up to hook to the sled and give it a go in the stocker classes. I wondered what would happen if something expensive let go during the competition, and video evidence later surfaced showing the, ummm...."non-approved" duty the vehicle was exposed to. I've yet to see a warranty booklet that doesn't offer up specific exclusions for competition use of any type.
This happened several years running at our local county fair. A few of the Dodge boys would show up with their Cummins powered truck. Pull in the stock class on Saturday. Show up at the Dodge dealer on Monday because their tranny was slipping or whatever it was. Little did they know that my cousin (lead mechanic at the dealer) and his buddy (the service advisor) was sitting in the stand. Recognized the trucks and when they came in Monday morning complaining, immediately denied the warranty claim and made a note in the system so it couldn't be taken to another dealership. Had 2 or 3 of them for several years in a row. Probably still happening, but my cousin went to a different dealer in a different town, so I don't hear the stories now.
