What about anyone who draws a monthly pension check, 2.5% to 3.5% less because of a federal tax increase!! Has anyone else noticed??

Unfortunately, YES. My Federal taxes have more than doubled on my military pension. This is after they doubled last year.
And to add insult to injury, no cost of living raise in 2 years.....but the cost of gas and food are sure rising.......

Are all of you federal retirees? The Missus and I draw SC pensions that have not been affected. It is my understanding that the federal tax rates for 2011 are the same as 2010 and that the tax brackets and standard deductions have increased, albeit modestly. What gives?

My wife is, but I am not. I got a notice that because of a bill signed by President Obama, my tax structure had changed and my retirement amount "adjusted". I thre it away, so I don't remember exactly what it said.

I am not blaming it on President Obama, so I don't want to stir anything up.

That is why the state is ran by democrats, Anything East of the Cascades is republican.

Obama and the Dems did a great job here in Indiana last election. Indiana has almost always went Red. Last election they won something like 11 of the 92 counties but took the state. The 11 counties they won were all the larger cities that hold the major colleges. Anyway, 1/8 of the counties got them the state.

Here in NC the teachers pay scale has been adjusted and my wife as a 11 year teacher makes the same basepay she made 3 years ago as a 8 year teacher but healthcare and cost of living has sure changed. I am retired military also so I know about the retirement pay also Randy

My daughter is a school teacher and she was just told her pay had been frozen for the next five years. She will probably get out of teaching next year or so.

But my daughters college just went up $4000.00 between 2010 (when she applied )and 2011 (when she starts) we need more scholarships Randy

I know what you mean, I was able to graduate from college debt free many years ago, but now many if not most graduates are paying on their college tuition loans long after graduation.
