Anybody have a sleep number or comfortaire mattress?

A numbered tractor air seat would be nice. What's your number?:D

Bird, I have an extra pump/4tube/wired remote assembly that is not compatible with my new mattresses that use 2tube/wireless/pump. The new mattresses need only one tube each instead of two tubes each. PM me if your pump assembly ever needs replacing.

Don, I've never looked closely at any besides our own, so I've never even seen one with 4 tubes. Like I said, ours has the two wired remotes, but only two tubes; one to the air chamber on each side of the bed, of course.

Interesting. I guess if the new pump ever goes out, after the warranty expires, I could put a Y in the older pump's tubbing and use it again. On the older pump assembly I think one tube puts air in and the other lets air out.

Another thing I like about the bed is that the air mattresses and foam layers are separate on each side and movement will not wake the other person.

With 4 tubes, that sounds like a logical assumption. I've never really checked to see how air goes out of ours; just assumed it's internal in the pump housing.

When we bought ours, we were living down in the country in Navarro County, and I got literature from Select Comfort, Nautilus, and Temper-pedic. And I didn't even know any of them had retail stores until we moved back to town in Lewisville. I had been shopping on the Internet, but then called on the phone to actually talk to a person and ordered the bed from her. I don't know how old she was, but she said her grandkids thought it was great fun to let all the air out of her mattress when they came to visit. So ours came via UPS, then of course, 4 or 5 months later we moved to an apartment in Lewisville, 11 months after that to a mobile home in Coppell, then a couple of years later, finally bought this house. So our bed has been disassembled, moved, and re-assembled 3 times since the initial assembly. But I think that's easier than wrestling an old fashioned mattress and springs.

Allot of good answers and a few other options for me to consider. I suppose I will look further in to Temperpedic and the Sleep number

Guess I will have to "sleep" on it till then.

Dennis, one good thing is that the different manufacturers do offer a certain length of time you can try out a bed and return it if you don't like it. I never would have bought the Sleep Number bed if I hadn't been assured I could return it if we didn't like it. So when it arrived, and we assembled it, I kept the boxes, just in case. However, as it turned out, we still have it and if anything happened to it, I'd have to buy another one.

I am in the market for a new mattress, I looked into the Sleep Number and was not pleased with the reviews. Lots of people do not like them.

Maybe it's kind of like which tractor, truck, car, etc. is best. And I definitely know which one is best. The best one is the one you like best. If we all liked the same one, the other companies would soon be out of business.;) My Sleep Number bed is the most comfortable bed I've ever owned, but that sure doesn't mean it would be for you, nor does it mean that I might not ever find something I like better someday.

Our cats like to wake us up in the morning by jumping on the bed and "kneading" on the mattress with their claws. Wouldn't want to have a blow-out on a sleep number bed especially if I had it cranked up to 85 ;):D

We have a king size from the same mfr. as Bird. Can't recall when we bought it but I am thinking about 7 years ago. Anyway...my wife has always liked it--a lot. I've gone from liking it OK to just OK...but then I've slept better in a recliner than any bed for years now. Only problem we've had is the LED readout on one control is partially gone...but the control still works to increase or decrease firmness.

Ok, wife just looked it up. 5000 series king size, $1840.00, Oct 2004.

Before this we went through a couple water beds, one conventional mattress/box spring set, and several kinds of foam in 30 years.

We have an air bed made by National, Who makes them for Hospitals. Was expensive but worth every cent! People who say I was crazy paying that much, I ask them, how much of your life do you spend in bed?????? :confused2: :D
