Now look under my 2011 Ford F250 and you'll appreciate the difference, a real truck.

You don't have to get dirty climbing underneath them, see post

Maybe that's the inspection plant where everyone can compare Ford's to Dodge's suspension!

Sorry, just trying to be funny :)

I don't know, but when I bought my Ram 3500 it had the highest rated frame strength in it's class. Chassis truck, but I think it was even higher than Ford's 550s.
Something like 50,000 psi from what I remember from the sales brochures.

Always wanted one in a Durango back in the late 90's when they made them that way.

Chris

Like this? A 1998 Durango in 1998 somewhere in Yellowstone. That Durango is the very first Durango delivered in Indiana with the 360. I ordered it with every single option available except rear air (because it cut out too much head room) and had to wait an extra month to get it with the 5.9 due to some delays. I'm glad I did. I kept it until 2009 and 200k miles. In that time the only problem it had was a problem in the rear end at about 150k miles. For many years it was my only tow vehicle for my boat (22' Sea Ray Pachanga) and any tractor I had. I miss it, but at 200k, there are just so many things that could start going wrong, it had served it's purpose for us.

Wait, are you referring to his durango being over 65k? I hope it was not that much!!! That would be a rip off to say the least.

Yesterday morning around 7:45 am I received a call from my nieghbor...
"Could you please come down by the school at the four corners and tow me home?"
I said, "sure thing buddy, I would love to tow a dodge with my GMC".
Best truck ever made, hands down.
Duramax, matched with the allison trans......enough said!

You sure about that? Had one and the only thing it was good at was finding its way to the dealer.

I am a Ford Guy but would own a Dodge 10 times over before another GM.

At one time I had a 04 F-250 4x4 Powerstroke and a 05 GMC 3500 SRW 4x4 Dmax at the same time. I pulled them side by side and spent a hour going back and forth on my creeper. No comparison. The Ford was just built so much tougher.

I then traded the Dmax and got a 06 F-350 SRW 4x4 Powerstroke and still had the 04 F-250. I did the same thing and while very similar the 06 with its new front suspension surpassed the 04. Both blew the Dmax out of the water with its Mickey Mouse torsion bar front end.

Give some examples if you can. It may help someone in their buying decision.

Frame thickness, mounting hardware, Ford solid axle versus a upper lower A arm assembly with torsion bars on the Dmax. Lack of boxed portions. ect.

Big issue for me was the low slung frame on the Dmax with the big cross member that went from frame rail to frame rail mid rig. I got it caught up on a stump.

Good points. I do admit, thought it rode rough, the solid axle in the ford felt and looked stronger than the GM.

Unless you know the characteristics of the steel being used in each vehicle looking at thickness don't count for much.

All steels are not created equally.:D
