I cringe at the thought... :confused2:

I'm 90% sure that and the horribly outdated (1960s original) tiny house is why no one bought it. Tremendous amount of work to be done. Everywhere you look there is a time pit. There is a discarded roll of fence with several 3"+ trees growing through it within sight of the house.

Thankfully I'm not allergic to poison ivy (yet) because if the tree is less than 20" in diameter and it isn't dead yet it likely has a 1"+ diameter vine in it.

I have heard the 275 fuel tank is the way to go! Cut the end out and turn it up. Load with a front loader. Pick what you burn so you know if the ashes have to go to the transfer station or not. If it grows on the farm you can burn it on the farm. Hot dogs make it a recreational fire pit. Good neighbors will not say much if they know you are trying to clean up the place.

If you've got a FEL, why not just dig a hole and burn it, then cover it back up?

I have to wonder how much of the debris is treated lumber, from what I have read it is hazardous to burn either type of it.

From my FF expierience:
- you may need a burn permit from the local FD
- You may be limited on what you can burn; we can only burn yard debri, ie limbs, leaves
- You may be limited on amount. We can only have a 4x4x4 pile. That is tiny...
- You may be limited on when you can burn; we have to call a burn hotline first.
- Know someone who got busted; it cost them a hefty fine, and could not burn any more

If its old decks and picknic tables its most likely treated wood (treated with CCA) and you will be releasing arsenic into the air. It is all but impossible not to breathe some amount of the smoke in. I would throw the stuff at the dump before id burn more than a board or two of treated. But if you either dont care or think it is untreated wood, i assume you have a front end loader, i would scrape a bucket or three to get down about 1 foot and burn it in the hole and then just cover it up after your through. The Nails will rust out in time and not matter unless its in your garden area or your kids sand box.

All good points. No open burning here at all.

When I burn in GA I have to call and get a daily burn permit...only supposed to burn natural yard debris...no man-made material etc.

Fire can be no bigger than 6'x6'....and now just last year they added another stipulation...."must be hand piled"....

...so I named my grapple "the hand" !

metal any sorts. can be taken in to a local scrap metal place.

i have seen what some folks can do, to destroy land. with nothing but junk and trash. it is like an animal hoarder. for example some old lady with 100 cats in her house. but instead of animals. its everything. even regular house hold garbage. its disgusting.

if this is your case, a tractor with a backhoe with a thumb. can be your friend. though a 4in1 bucket or perhaps a regular bucket and grappel on the front. can help dig stuff up and out of areas.

if the stuff is that old 30 plus years. you should be carefull of old paint. might have lead in it. old treated lumber is bad in burning as well. shingles, tires, other plastics.

375 for a dumpster, i would suggest you invest into a trailer. granted you end up paying for gas and then once at dump they end up charging you for a dump fee. but if you have time a trailer can be cheaper than a dumpster. i see dumpsters more of being for contractors and professionals for hire. for a quick fill and removal type of thing.

i honestly think you are over thinking things needing to have something to burn stuff in or on. burn barrel is nice once you have things to a manageable doing. but until then just designate a spot strip the grass and weeds away with a tractor bucket. and start burning on the ground. so what if it does not all burn. after it cools down get a metal rake and pull it back into a pile. and reburn if need be or off to the side. and call it good enough.

as far as well freezing. not going to happen. once you get past the frost line depth for your area. ground temperatures are normally right at 55 degrees F and stay that year round.

on another note. it most likely overwhelming right at this moment. but pick a 2 or 3 spots. one spot for metal stuff and appalinaces (fridges, water heaters, etc..) and other pile for shingles, tires, plastics and like that need togoto dump directly, then another pile errr area for a burn area. ya it is going look like an ugly eye sore for a couple years. but it helps motivate you to finish cleaning the property, and if it comes down to it. makes it easier and quicker to haul stuff to dump. more so if you higher someone to haul it out. having ability to say it will take this many trips can = discount for you. vs having a dumpster hauled away every so often.

All this discussion is reminding me (re: nagging) that I need to get out and do the Spring clean up around the property. There is always crap that migrates onto the property  during the winter and shows up before everything leafs out.
