Plenty. Even with power steering, you're either doing a hand-over-hand movement for sharp turns or palming the wheel, in which case the wheel is probably slipping under your hand.

When you are using the FEL and going back and forth, this way and that, up and down, yada yada yada, there's nothing like a spinner to make it easy. One hand on the spinner and the other working the FEL. I use my tractor in tight spaces all the time, which is why I bought a B21. if I didn't have a spinner, I'd go insane! See...that's what you're missing.

Now, if you drive your tractor in a straight line all the time, I could understand. :)

I agree with all that. And regarding mention of a bump steer, holding onto the knob, rather than just palming the wheel, should let you stop most/ all bump steers. Now if you don't have you hand on the knob & get a bump steer, watch those hands!!

I bought a steering wheel knob for my Kawasaki Mule & liked it so much I thought maybe it'd be good to have one on the tractor - And it is! I wouldn't called it a necessity, but I do like it.

I bought my knobs at TSC for my tractors, seemed that you had a greater choice and friendlier price than at the tractor dealers.

Why use a spinner? Helps when using a loader, takes pressure off the wrist and hand besides speeding up the turn. Manual or power steering I have used spinners and about the only time I wouldn't is when plowing with manual steering, nor would I place any fingers or thumbs inside the steering wheel.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but on a tractor with power steering why is a spinner knob even necessary?

What am I missing with regards to the benefit of a spinner knob?

I have one on my JD - it's not a need - just plain handy - especially so when wearing mitts / gloves in the winter.

I guess I am the odd man out. I used them on my cars and trucks prior to power steering, but now don't have them on anything. I use my fingers on the spokes to spin the wheel.

Me too. Didn't use them back when they were called "suicide knobs." Did use one on my B6000...it was hard to steer 4X4 w/loaded FEL. With hydro and PS, haven't felt need with 24...they look good though...

OK, so maybe I'll have to give one a try...

When I got the steering knob for my Kawasaki Mule it was primarily because the Mule (no power steering) is hard to steer sharply ... steers OK in gentle right & left turns, but the more you need to turn sharply, the harder it gets ... I thought maybe I'd get more leverage with the knob, & that does seem to be the case. It's still not easy to steer, but it is easier with the knob.

Now with the power steering tractor, the knob isn't needed to make steering easy, because it already is, but there's something kinda slick ... closer to effortless ... about steering with it.

I have one on my international dump truck just because it takes 20 revolutions (or at least is seams like) to go from stop to stop. I have thought about getting one for the tractor because the plastic steering wheel can be slippery with gloves on in the winter. I was looking at generic ones at Lowes the other day, they feel pretty hefty but I didn't buy one because it doesn't really match the tractor (I think they were green).
