You are full of KY manure. You know full well we dominate the drum mower market in the USA. We are selling hundreds of drum mowers each year in the USA. Our drum mowers are the best made anywhere in the world. This is just another one of your childish ploys to disparage any competition. A lie is an intent to deceive. You know better or do you?

Maybe a little unknown history here??

Hey Goat Lady, I have two disc mowers and I think they can not be beat if you don't have rocks and stumps to whack. The brand I have is Kuhn which I thiknk is the best. I have a 4 disc and a 3 disc (4 foot swath). The 3 disc (GMD33N) is for sale at $1995 and is in like new condition. New it is about $3500. I am in New Hampshire so when the weather gets nice, come on over and have a look. I can deliver if need be. email: willjudymack@gmail.com

We don't sell a line of drum mowers, however, if we did, it would be the Reese Drum Mower. They are made in New Zeland and IMHO are the best on the market today. Little pricey, but, you get what you pay for. Drum mowers are too heavy on the right cutting side for most smaller tractors. They make the left side of the tractor feel too light when in the up position. I have ran a 5 1/2 ft on a 3600 Ford and I could pull it fine with the HP. It just made my tractor feel unstable on uneven terrian. Disc mowers or double action sickle bar mowers are more compatable with smaller tractors. We stock the 5 ft Superior double action with or without hydraulic lift. For the larger tractors, we sell the New Superior disc mowers and The New Fort disc mowers and the 7 ft Superior double action mowers. Ken Sweet

Reese drum mowers are a totally different design than the CCM drum mowers.90% of the weight of the CCM drum mower is resting on the ground when mowing. Why do you want to lift the drum mower up just go back through any cut hay? It picks it up the cut hay without recutting it & puts it out the back. Again the facts are not with you Ken. We have hundreds of 165 drum mowers on Ford 3000, MF 135 & JD2040 size tractors. We have 3 sized of drum mowers to match any size tractor. Ken we have sold over 6,000 drum and disc mowers. CCM has been #1 in sales in the USA for disc mowers for PZ, LELY & Vermeer. We are not some johnny come lately. We were selling disc and drum mowers when you were playing with your caliper in the machine shop. Last time I checked Heart County KY has rolling hills nothing like the mountains we have here in upper-east TN. By the way we harvest over 800 acres of hay twice a year so we know our hay equipment.

Concerning double action sickle-bar mowers, One piece of wood or loose rock will do hundreds of dollars of damage in seconds. They are very high maintenance, we know because we sell $$$ thousands of parts for them on the INTERNET. Sheet metal guards, LOL. We have bunches of Superior 394 mowers traded in for drum mowers. You can buy good used Superior 394 sickle-bar mowers, all you want at the auction for $750. HayDR

All drum mowers are fine when they are on the ground mowing. The problems comes into play when you are cutting and run up on a rock or stump or a deer bedded down and have to pop the lift up quickly to avoid a crash. If you are on a hill the left side of the smaller tractor can gets pretty iffy.I am very familiar with your drum mowers, I bought one of the CCM drum mowers at a Ky consignment sale recently for cheap. The seller said it was 2 yrs old. I reworked the machine and sold it for a small profit. The double action mowers are precision hay cutting machines and have no business in the woods cutting tree limbs. From my 34 yrs experience, The heat treated rock guards on the Superior and Enorossi mowers are just as durable as conventional sickle guards. Ken Sweet

So Ken you are saying the OEM G&S 4mm thick stamped sheet matal guard (Pictured)is as durable as the forged double Guard? What was the name of the bankrupt tool & die make you worked for?

Just as strong. Do a rockwell test to verify for yourself. When I retired from the Tool and Die business, the company was owned by Kraft Foods. Did they go under? When I was buying from BuySmart/First Choice and you worked there, you pushed the Fort disc mowers and Sicma/First Choice roto tillers like they were the worlds VERY best. Now Turkish Equipment is the VERY best. Mark, you and I have took up enough of this nice Ladies discussion and I am going to let you have the last word, even though, it will probably be slanted toward what you are selling at a given time and how good it is. Well! My question seems to have generated much volleying amongst the sales folks. The last time I was on this forum many years ago, it felt quite different. I had hopped on board with newbie questions because I wanted advice from those with much more experience with no real agenda besides being helpful.

Though I have picked up a smattering of information with the volleying, it feels a bit off track with much of it being beyond my experience.

Looking for advice on best disc mower for Kubota L4400. Have about 15 acres to mow. Have looked at Sitrex (new) so far with a price tag of around $7K. Would consider something used if it was in good condition. Anything up from the sickle bar on the old 52 Farmall will be an improvement!

I have the same exact tractor and we use the t190 drum mower. We cut about 30 acres a year in Indiana with it. It works great. $3200. I rake it with an old rake we have an an old hesston baler. Get a drum mower for you what you need. Thanks
