Will my ride pull it..?

You guys will laugh but local rental place rents ford E250's with hitch for under 100 per day unlimited mileage they all have the v6. I make runs to Georgia, TN, Texas, MO, IA, and where ever in these all the time as cheaper than running my trucks. I ussually pull my tandem axle trailer it is equiped with 2 6k axles and brakes on both I bought a plug in for the control that will hook in rentals wiring(hope they don't follow this). More than once I have put 1400 miles and had it back in less than 24hrs. The lady at the desk always goes back and checks the mileage and comes in with a puzzled look on her face. Most of the time its a small load of ebay tresures or burned up insurance claims.
I would not hesitate to use your van with your tractor and trailer unless you have big hills in your area.

Yes saftey police I have 2 drivers on long trips and alway read the speed limit signs:D

We once rented with unlimited mileage for 6 days and put 14,000 km on, I think that is about 9000 miles? We drove 50 hrs straight out and same back at the end, with all the rest happening on the 2 days we were there for the wedding. 4 drivers in shifts of 2 hours. The rental clerk had that same look when returning it!

I know you know Fords but I did not think any 3/4 ton Ford, van or truck, was produced with anything less than the 5.4L V8?

I have to question a V6?

I had the same reaction, but in doing some Googling, I see many references to V6s in 3/4 ton Fords.

Maybe for the payload (van cargo area), not for the towing???

That would depend on what the GVWR is.

He stated it was 7,000.

the trailer only weighs 1500 lbs ( light trailer to pull around)but can handle a 7000 lb load.....it has two 3500 lb axles....
I take that to mean, GVWR of 7000, which is pretty common for small trailers that the axles are the limiting factor and they are rated at that. Subtract the weight of the trailer (1,500) and you get a cargo capacity of 5500 lbs.

And, I doubt anyone in authority cares what the trailer is "rated" for, only what it is registered for. Rumors abound about exceeding what is on the sticker, but I have never seen a first hand account of it. Closest I have seen is someone getting a ticket for being over the tire weight rating.

The GVWR could be 8500 for a net load of 7k. Just sayin.

Except those of us that actually READ can see he stated a capacity of 7000 with two 3500 lb axles. Since 3500+3500 is...... guess what.... 7000, that would be the maximum GVWR it could be without exceeding the axle ratings. Isn't math fun!
