Best NEW 6 ft. rotary cutter [chopper] for under $1500.00

Title says it all. I am looking for a new 6 ft. rotary cutter for under $1500.00. What is everyone's opinion ?

My guess is that you can get a light duty one for a little less than $1500.00, but not a medium to heavy duty one for that money. I bought a light duty 6 footer at the Co Op a couple of years ago for under $1000.00. I cut about five acres of grass only 4-5 tmes a year and so far no problems with the light duty model. If you are cutting areas that haven't been attended for a few years with saplings etc., you probably need to spend a little more and get a heavier duty cutter with a slip clutch. That's my $0.02 worth.

I suggest you call around dealers to see what the prices are. My guess is you might find a King Kutter or Howse for $1500 or less.

My Hawkline 6-ft brush hog cost $1150 when I bought it in 2008.

i saw a 6' countryline at TSC today for $less than $1100, if i'm not mistaken.

not sure about the quality. looked stout to me.

How many horses does your tractor have? Reason I ask is I bought a 6' Massey brand rotary mower a few years back to cut an orchard for a neighbor. With only 32 horses I often found myself running in 1st gear. I got lucky and sold it to a friend for a $250 loss.
When shopping look a how heavy the gear box is. Deck guage thickness. I bought a Bushog brand 5' Squealer. It is nice. I really like the smooth top. Easy to clean when the day is done. Other rotary mowers I owned had the supports welded on top of the deck which caught the clippings.

TracTrac is right, you need to consider how much HP your tractor has. But to answer your question, the King Kutter L72-60-HD is a fairly heavy duty cutter for that kind of money. The Fred Cain AC106SSC and AC206SSC are also stout built cutters in that price range.

I have a JD 4005 = 41.5 hp. I found a Rhino light duty for $1250.00 , I think it is the rx model, cuts up to 1" stuff. Thanks for the answers.

Take a look at modern ag out of Texas the have several models the decks are thicker 3/16" and you can even get some hot dipped galvanized with a ten year rust warranty all for under 1500
I am having a dealer bring one in for me. They sure look stout to me but have only seen them on Internet they have been around since 60's. Made in USA putting people to work. All good things check them out.

They definitely look heavy duty...got the weight to substantiate the "heavy duty" too.
