The way I understand my JD is that the go pedal increases or decreases the volume of the hydraulic pump (or motor, whatever) and thus does increase or decrease the torque .....in a ratio opposite the resulting speed...

A very common mistake by new operators is to push the pedal further when digging or climbing a hill only to find out the engine bogs down and/or stalls-then they come here asking if their machine is broken

Yes the go pedal does change the volume of hydraulic pump. This increases the input torque required to drive it. I.e. makes the diesel engine work harder.

Since the hydraulic motor displacement is not changing it does not change the torque output of the motor just the RPM of the motor.

And then you buy a new Kubota GL40 with the auto throttle that turns the HST pedal back into a 'gas' pedal.
