Buying Advice Tiller options GC2400

Assuming then that the XB is a compromise between the two optimum angles you get by purchasing them separate?

Honestly I don't know what the differences are in angle. I do know that I've used it as a middle buster, and as a sub-soiler. Both work as intended.

(Sorry I took awhile to answer this. I only just saw this post.)

KKR,
I have a few of your implements and, so far, am satisfied (just wish they were red;)). I have been looking for a tiller here in WV. Since I have had an other than pleasurable experience with my dealer, who by the way, is a distributor for KK. I am looking elsewhere for a tiller. I may end up paying more for a KK from some other dealer that he distributes to.
My question to you is, I am wanting something a little larger than a 48", do you believe that a 60" on a GC2610 (w/ BH mounts) will fit the hitch?? I know that the XB kutter I have was the only rotary cutter that KK sells which would fit because of the spread of the lower links, and the height of the hitch on the unit itself. Any input and info you could provide would help, thanks.

Craig

Honestly, I'm not sure your tractor has the HP to handle a 60" tiller. Additionally, the only King Kutter tiller that I know will fit your tractor is the TG-48-XB. I hope that answers your question.

Ok. That is what I thought.

I don't know if the gear drive tillers take more HP to run or not, but, I have run a Farm King 60inch Chain driven tiller with my GC2400 in hard clay and it has no problem turning the tiller in the ground the only minor issue is every once in a while it will grab a rock and push the tractor ahead a little, but otherwise no problems. When working the wifes garden I can sink the tiller in as deep as it will go in the black dirt and can till at pretty much any speed I want (if you go to fast it doesn't break the dirt up very good but it will do it).

There is one minor non-power related problem, the larger tillers(ones not designed for SCUT's) have the hitch pins higher on the frame and as a result the tiller does not raise very high off of the ground when you lift the 3pt hitch.

When I was still shopping I was VERY interested in checking out the Howse tiller. Only problem is the closest place I could physically see one was a state away. So I would pretty much have to buy one blind and pay a great deal just to ship the thing to me. Well today I'm at a farm auction and there are two brand new 60" Howse tillers there. I am still befuddled about where the heck they came from. Wasn't able to stick around long enough to see them sell, but they did look very beefy. Wasn't sure I would have been able to pick one up either, 3pt looked very high up when it was just sitting on the ground.

Finally got some of my new stuff in. Still waiting for my cultivator to come in. Initially I was kind of disappointed at the finish on the units. They gave the appearance that they had not been treated kindly during transport. A lot of dings and gouges on them. Also the paint job itself on the tiller showed runs. I guess we will see how it does in the dirt. Hopefully very soon.

Just buy a can of paint to touch it up with later on.

It sure is, supposedly it's just right for the GC. Haven't had a chance to decrate it yet, but I should be able to soon. Got my cultivator on Monday, it was by far the most beat up. I was supposed to receive a new one, but instead they sent NOS from another store. Beat up and really rusty. No problem, they gave me 2 cans of non matching spray paint to make up for it. Grrrrrrr
