Buying Advice Tiller options GC2400

I'll try loosening it more when I find the time. Maybe that will do it.
If you can't get it to slip on untilled ground, call a dealer, I don't want to see you tear up your tractor.

If you do a search, you'll see what I mean, this has happened before.

But now is the time to go farther..........

King Kutter REP.........do the right thing. You know darn well this scenario is wrong. You sit there saying that yours is the best, but you are going to let this man tear his tractor up?

I wouldn't normally state it in this fashion, but any representative, for any company knows darn well what the 'impact force' will do to a tractor PTO!!!

Not defending the King Kutter Rep,(He can speak well enough for himself) but: What size tractor does the poster have the tiller mounted on? What size/width is the tiller? How many PTO Horsepower does the tractor have? If the tiller is 66 inches wide and mounted on a bx series the slip clutch will never slip, not enough horsepower at the PTO. Wide tillers on small tractors are a disaster waiting to happen. PTO's and housings have been destroyed by using a too wide tiller on a small tractor. A good rule of thumb is the same used for rotary cutters, five (5) horsepower per foot of width.

It's just right. 4' cutter. 24hp tractor. Power is not the issue.

sure you can make it slip. if you loosen the slip clutch adjustment enough you should be able to turn it by hand.. ie.. 1 manpower.. no horsepower.

sounds like the bolt / slip joint connections don't have enough adjustments to allow the springs to relaxe to the point that it can slip. if it should be slipping on untileld ground and ain't.. somethings binding or bolts are too short...

Thank you for the response, I just don't want to see anyone harm their tractor.

I can loosen mine enough to where I can slip it by hand.

EDIT: Kal130..............I noticed 'slight discoloration on your clutch assembly, I don't know if KK does this, but.............some companies spray an 'anti-rust' inhibitor on the metal.........this needs to be 'burnt off' to enable the 'slip- function'(this is common on rotors for cars also).

As Kal130 said, the tiller in question is the KK XB 48" tiller.

It is sized for the 'subcompact' tractor.

It should not be stalling the tractor, but it appears to be.

imho.. a loose slip clutch should slip allowing implement to stall and tractor pto to spin. it should NOT stall the tractor with the skip clutch loosened unless the clutch is not operating correctly.
