Tiller stone burier vs reverse rotation tiller

I have seen video of a stone burier and a reverse rotation tiller and I don't see a huge difference other than the stone burier looks a little beefier and has a roller at the rear. Anyone have any real world with a stone burier vs a reverse rotation tiller? I'm looking to take care of lots of small stones in my horse pastures and till the ground for new seed.

I'd say that the reverse rotation actually brings up more stone!!!! Compared to a normal rotation there are many more stones caught under the shields then with a forward rotating tiller.

I've seen the machine you are talking about but I can't find anyone to sell me on it sell it to a customer in central NY.

I currently have a Blecavator which some refer to as a stone burrier. I'm not sure that this is what you are referring to as a reverse rotation tiller. On this machine, there is a "screen" located behind the blades which allows the fines to pass through and the rocks to be stopped. It is a series of steel rods that can be set at different spacing. What happens is that the rocks hit the screen and then drop vertically into the void that was just created by the reverse spinning blades. Since the blades are moving in a forward direction, the rocks are left at the bottom of the trench and then the fines which passed through the screen are deposited on top of the rocks. It will deposit anything such as roots, branches etc that do not pass through the screen.

Next behind this process is a screed that levels the soil before the roller does it's compaction thing.

After one pass the soils is finely tilled, free of rocks and debris, fully leveled and ready to plant.

It's quite an amazing machine.

I also have a blecavator, a 10'er. Does a great job on burying small rocks, just too slow for my purpose. It has been sitting in the shed for 2 years with less than 150 acres on it. I think 20 grand could talk me out of it and give you a heck of a deal over a new one. You need a good size tractor for it. I use a jd 7700 to carry it, and that's a little on the light end.

If you like the Blecavator, you should try the RotaDairon. Similar machine with a few updated features, and better build quality.

I agree that the reverse rotation probably brings up more stones than stone burrier types. There are a few other features about the blade shape and gearbox configuration that can make huge differences.
