Grand L exhaust

I have black loader arm and exhaust smell in window on that side when the wind is right and tractor is under load. I'd like a vertical exhaust too. They used to offer a kit on the GL10 series I believe, I know some of them used to have it.

I've thought about putting a pipe on it, once the tips rusts out I will.

Closing in on 1000 hrs on my grand L5030, don't notice any soot buildup on the tractor yet. Puff of smoke only on start up, then burns clean.

I believe the 5040 is turbo-charged. The 3130 must just be a little smokey and it is definitely on the underpowered side.:D

DDT I just bought a L5740 and am looking for a hydraulic top link. Where did you get yours and do you have a picture of it?

Here is what I built several years ago

Maybe I am missing something. Take it to the exhaust shop, tell them what you want. Go have lunch. Done. This isn't rocket science.

That's what I did. $40 bucks. No more issues. Kubota should have done it this way from the start.

Horisnaround, Would you mind sharing pics? I would like to see how they did it, especially the mounting brackets. Thanks. Philip.

Hi All -

For the last month I have been trying to figure out how to put vertical exhaust on my 3240. I have a friend with a JD 3520. For $140 he bought the kit from JD and then had it chromed. I have been thinking about buying that kit from JD and modifying it to fit the 3240. I think with a little cutting and welding, it can be done. The big problem will be cutting a hole through the top of the hood. And to make things more complicated, I came across a website called Orange Tractor Talk. I started a thread called Chrome Stack and, lo and behold, there was a fellow who went by the name Bleed Orange who has a 3940 and added a turbo and a 3" stack. Looks excellent. If you go to this website, to Fabrication & Customization, he has photos and he can tell you how he did his. For my tractor, the 3" stack is a little too big. I still don't know which way I am going to go.

I have learned a lot from this Tractor by Net site. You people are a book of knowledge.

Thank you.

Dennis

Dennis, If you get it done, please share. Thanks for the info from the other site. Philip.

My dozer has a stack that sticks up. Often if the wind blows it'll push the exhaust fumes at me. I have a feeling that's why Kubota moved it to where they did. There's just no good place.
