Anyone ever put taller tires on a BX to get more ground clearance? I keep forgetting to look to see how much room I have between the rear fender and the existing tire.

You'd have interference all over the place. There just isn't room. The way to get taller wheels on a BX is to get the wheels that come on the B series and take the B tractor with them. :D:D

Take a look at the tires on a New Holland TZ (unless they changed the name on the current series). Same size tractor as a BX, but with bigger rubber. Maybe they'd fit?

Gotta keep the fronts and rear in ratio. The front will not take anymore. The interference with MMM and in steering comes into play.

Ok yea, forgot about the mower... nix that.

20/20 hindsight... shoulda got a B.

Exactly. If a B is what one needs, it is what he has to buy. The BX is perfect for many many people, but it can't be turned into a B.

This is one of the problems w/ subcompacts that people don't learn until they get. I many times try to discourage people from buying a subcompact because it is just too small and they don't realize it's downfalls and limitations until it's too late.

I would sarcastically suggest 2 Mattracks
but they may be more expensive than
The BX itself.

A bit harsh if you ask me.I agree that they are limited by their size but all machinery has it's limitations regardless of how big it may be.Perhaps some people find that a subcompact tractor fulfills their needs or maybe that is all they can afford.Subcompact tractors are a huge market so they must have some usefulness.I have a BX2360 on order and plan on using it to mow my yard,I think it is the perfect tractor for this.:2cents:

After having my 2660 for a few months, I think that it makes an excellent mower and yard maintenance machine, you run out of traction long before you run out of power. It runs a 60" deck with a LOT more authority than my JD mower did with it's 17hp Kawasaki and 48" deck. It pulls the 48" box scraper just fine. I've moved a bunch of dirt and gravel with the bucket, and the dirt was mostly wet clay. I installed a receiver hitch on it, and can move my trailer and log splitter around, which my old mower would not do.

However, when I got wanting to use it more in the garden with things like plows and cultivators that need ground clearance, I discovered it lacking.

I need a mower more than anything else, so it really fits most of what I need. If I did have a B2620 that would be more at home in the garden with a plow hanging off the back, it would not work as well as the mower and low hanging branches would be more of a nuisance so I would complain about that. LOL Everything is a compromise.

I had a BX 22 for 6 years and it did every thing I ever asked it to. Those tractors are fantastic for their size. Mowing was actually enjoyable. The people who snub them just don't have a clue

There are thousands of us who have a different take. My BX is perfect for my needs. It may be too small for your needs, but to say it is just too small as an absolute truism?

Politics and religion have become a realms where there is no room for discussion. Everyone is certain he/she is the font of absolute truth. I do not want tractor talk to become the same.

I bought a set of BX1800 wheels w bar tread tires for my BX1500. Had to space the fronts out about 1/2" to clear the steering arms. Rides better. More traction. No interferance with the 54" mower. Slightly more front lead ratio just makes it handle better. + + + as far as Im concerned.

I have found just about anything can be done if you want to spend enough money and make the necessary modifications. Whether you would be better or worse off is the question.

I am one of those who thinks the BX is the perfect tractor for my needs and many others; I am bemused by those who look down on it. Yes, we have several different tractors, but our BX really cannot be replaced by any of them.

Given all conditions I'd suggest buying a B-2620!

Yeah the anti-sub comment was a little off, don't suppose since that was coming from a Kioti dealer, who doesn't offer a sub-compact......naaahhh couldn't be.

My BX24 fits me perfectly right now.
Mainly because I have to transport it back and forth to my remote camp.
Now if I lived there I might have gone a little bigger although I found weaving through the forest is a must and smaller is better for my use right now.

One other thing to consider- even if larger/taller tires fit you've then screwed up the gearing for pulling power..I'm sure Kubota took tire diameter into account when selecting drive ratios.

I sure to like my BX 2660. It does everything I need from a small tractor.
I do wish it had more ground clearance under the front hubs though.

The bx is a great mower and tractor but a better combo would be a B series for real work and a dedicated 5 foot front cut mower. Depends on if you have the money for both or not

I guess it depends on your definition of real work, all our tractors from the BX2660 to our M8540 do real work in my opinion.
