2002 kubota L35
Hi I am new to this site and just bought a kubota L35. I would like to change the hydrolic oil and the manual says 39 liters of transmision fluid. Any recomendations on what kind of oil to use? Hydrolic oil or transmission fluid? is it the same?
Also the engine oil says to use 10-30. but it dose not say diesal oil is there a differance?
thanks Brian

Brian:

Welcome to TBN. I have an L4310. Those descriptions of lubricants sound suspiciously vague to me. Normally Kubota is very specific. I would consult with a nearby dealer or one of the on-line tractor parts providers (sorry, it has been a long day and I cannot for the life of me remember any of the names)

Diesel lube oil is absolutely different than oil for a gas motor. Only use oil that is rated for a diesel, assuming your tractor is a diesel. The viscosity depends on your areas ambient temperature. I have used 15w-40 in several diesels here in Washington with very good results.

I hope this helps.

Kubota Super UDT or the new Super UDT II oil would be best for the transmission/hydraulic fluid especially if you use your tractor in the winter. If you don't want to spend the extra for the Kubota oil, be sure to get something that is UDT compatible.

That is pretty much what Kubota would recommend. Their hydraulic oil is expensive and you will just have to decide if it is worth it to you. Also be sitting down when Kubota quotes you a price on filters.

10w30 C rated oil is available.. and I'd use what the manufacturer recomends for the op temps.

your manual likely has a UDT spec for the transdraulic oil too.

meet it..

For the L35 (GST) the Hydraulic and Transmission fluid are the same (Kubota Super UDT), and it does take more than 10 gallons. I usually get two 5 gallon pails and a spare gallon.

Unfortunately, the drain plug is about 2 inches too low to get a 5 gallon pail underneath. I use a radiator drain pan, and then decant into empty 5 gallon pails. Make sure that you keep hold of the drain plug so that you can screw it back in if you need to stop the flow of fluid to change containers.

I drive mine up on 4 - 2x10s boards that I have nailed to geather! 2 on each side, makes it just the right height!

car oil change ramps likely would work too.

Using car ramps seems to make my top side to high to work on, unless you talking a little lawn tractor. when you only need a couple inches the 2 2x will give you 3" of lift and youcan still reach the top side to add oil.

When I typed in lawn--*ractor above it put in a link to cub kadet! I am not sugestin or recomending this machine!!

Now after posting me edit the link is gone???
