What size and brand of 3pt finishing mower

local dealer wants $3355 for a woods 84" with chain gaurd delivered and Blue in color. They also sell farmking but he said you wouldn't save a much on it and the woods is a lot heavier built machine. THey do have a used farmking locally at a different dealer for $2100, grey in color, he said used very little but sat outside so the paint is faded. Is this too much for a used mower. Out of state mowers have better prices but to ship an 84" mower is going to cost 500 ballparked. It only cost me $1000 to ship my tractor from virginia.

Might try Search Tempest (which queries Craigslist so you can look all over the country). There was an 84" Befco within about 25 miles of me with an asking price of $900.
Maybe you ought to give Ken Sweet a call. Haven't been many complaints about First Choice mowers to my knowledge.
Just remember that these are lawn mowers, not rotary cutters.

The only problem i really have with craigs list and used online besides shipping is that i dont want to travel to look it over. WHen i bought my tractor it had low hours withing 5 years old and the dealer walked my through it, Tractor house. I am a little leary about a mower in the shape it is in. CHances are someone that owned it and is selling it might be the everyday user and may not be able to tell the condition. I could be wrong. If I were to buy used i would be thinking woods or something with a name that has great quality rep. and very little sign of use.

Problem with spending 900 on a used mower and another 500 to ship is that i have 1400 into it. If it works and does a good job i will be happy. If i have problems and spend another 300 in blades, bearings, spingles or gearbox or changing oil on gearboxes i now have $1700 in a mower, would i be better sticking that into a 2000 used very little farmking that i can look at withing one hour?

Ken might be the best answer to your problem...do a TBN search for First Choice and see what you think about their implements.

If you do buy used, make sure it is a brand you can still get parts for. Probably nothing on there you can't work around if you can't get the exact part, but why take on extra problems if you can avoid them.

I bought mine used for $600. It had two flat tires and the blades wore just about gone. I tried fixing the tires, but lost that battle and replaced them with solid tires. It was night and day at how much better that has worked out for me!!! I had one spindle that was bad and had to replace it, then I hit a root that busted another spindle that I had to replace. I've replaced the belt too. I guess that I have another $500 into it on repairs that we either needed when I bought it, or that I caused to it.

Well i found 2 farmking 84 inch rear discharge mowers at a dealership about 200 miles away, both mowers the service dept. went through and they are ready to go. I did find out when talking to the salesman that you cant use these mowers with a quick attach but they do make a quick attach adapter for the farmking mowers that are only a few years old. This one would not qualify, the part is $180, Crap! i plan on hooking and unhooking it weekly. Anyone here run one with a quick attach or an adapter for one? Or have a pic on one could a person build something to adapt to it if they dont make one for this year of mower? He said it is a 2005 or 2006 model?
