Tractor "almost" running hot

My kubota has a screen in front of the radiator, but had a lot of packed material behind it. I removed the screen and washed and double checked by looking at light behind radiator. I would vote for the fan belt also hindering the engine?

Just a technical point, Roy.

Running lean will cause of spark ignition engine to run hot due to lack of charge cooling from fuel evaporation. That's because gas engines run at nearly constant fuel/air ratios (I'm sure this statement will cause some discussion about " ...nearly constant fuel air ratios"...) and are controlled by throttling the air flow.
But diesels run with a large variations in fuel/air ratio and the airflow is unthrottled. They are controlled by varying fuel flow directly so they're running "lean" except at full power.

Good point, Jerry...I had "lean" thinking capacity when I responded to art's post

Although I am aware running lean could cause the engine to run hot, why would you think this is the case in this instance?

I suggest we see how tightening a "very loose" fan belt works before any disassembly. Anyway, determining if an injector isn't functioning correctly isn't a job for a typical home operator.

Fan belt might be it but fully reading the post he talked of a skip at an idle.

To have a skip at an idle will give you a skip at any rpm!! This will cause power loss and overheating!!! Just seen it before, sometimes I get ahead of common maintence as normally when this stuff comes to me at home someone has done the obvious!

Fan belt might be it but fully reading the post he talked of a skip at an idle.

He actually wrote:
I have noticed whenever it gets near the hot zone on the guage, the engine idles rough. I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not but it idles normally whenever the engine is cool.

I've seen gasoline engines running rough when overheated, but it wasn't what sounded like a "miss" or "skip". I've never had a diesel (I've owned 4...three tractors, one pick up) run hot.

Hopefully, tightening the fan belt will resolve belah's problems entirely. We shall see when he posts.
