you will flood the maket for CUTs sooner or later, thus killing the market for new sales.

With the go-go years behind us I expect that point has already been crossed. Many of the CUT's sold in the past 20 years I expect have outlived their owners too and some of those are back on the market.

There is the practical demand for CUT's then there is the fun/toy demand which may be much weaker these days. Having full size equipment I would like to have a CUT I think but not sure I would adjust to the limits of one. :D

0% financing in anything will help "pull demand forward" leaving lack of demand and product channels stuffed....

Nobody has learned a **** thing.

The main reason for the rebate was due to the delayed introduction of the 1000 series tractors. When this program first started Deere had a good supply of 2520's on the ground and were trying to move the price point down in hopes that the customer who was looking at the 2305/1000 series would move up to the 23/2520. It has been agreat program so far and now Deere is basically out of 2520's (must be retail sold to order or dealer purchase for stock). There is also a $600.00 implement bonus in there somewhere, not sure if that was mentioned earlier or not but that is why the dealer needed to take in the old implements and have you purchase new ones.

I'm alluding to the fact that those offers "entice" people that would otherwise take longer to save for a tractor (or any widget, for that matter) to buy now, instead of later. It increases sales in the short-term, but come later on down the road, those that would have bought (read: spread out over a period of time) have already purchased and have no need for the item. Leftover items remain in dealer/mfg inventory and must be "blown out" via higher incentives.

This may or may not be a factor here, but it certainly is a factor in most industries.

I havent a clue why anyone would buy a three year old machine to save a couple thousand dollars. No warrantee, loader already worn in, no "new car smell", and no free financing. ???????

I would because I try not to finance my toys and if you go private sale there is no sales tax....
