Gas cans

I agree.. I'd rather have a 35$ all metal one.. heavy at that.. not flimsy, vs a 10$ plastic one that will die within 6- ys just from ambient uv exposure.

keep paint on the metal one and out of water, and it will last multi-decades..

Guys, I know good quality costs money but get one of these, you will love the can even 20 years from now.

They are from 75/100 bucks, depending in where you by for a 5 gallon.

I would hope that any gas can would guarantee leakproof construction, lol.

All kidding aside both the Eagle and the Justrite cans are nice. I just wish they would put a rubber or plastic edge in the seam at the bottom of the tank. The last one I had eventually rusted after the paint and galvy wore off from sliding around and being stored on cement.

The 5 gallon Jerry cans are available at most auctions, estate and farm, I get them for 1 to 2 bucks each, you would be surprised at what treasures can be found for little $$, just takes a little time to look thru the stuff.

kinda like finding gems in the rough at flea markets. I got 2-3 FULL as I could carry arm loads of tools a few weeks ago for 55$ at a flea market ...

We have got a steel Eagle can that someone gave us. Great can second only to an older plastic one we have. The reason I like the plastic one is, is that it is lighter, not as awkward and I just like how it works. These two cans are the only ones which have held up over the years with no leaks. We tried many different cans, even those Jerry cans (it had a flexible plastic spout so it may have been a cheap one,not sure).

Those no-spill ones I wouldn't take the time to throw off a cliff.... well , that may be a little exaggeration but I don't like how they work or how slow they pour or that you have to push this little plastic thingy to get gas out.

EDIT: After looking around, it appears it was a decent can with a cheap nozzle. I'm not sure if we still have it but it appears that you can get better metal nozzles

Of all the "new style" cans, i like these made by Sceptre:

They have pretty decent balance. I THINK they are a Euro design adapted for NA. Also available with flow control nozzle where you have to hook it on the lip of the tank and push to flow.

The metal cans are sweet. Used them industrially for solvents. Not sure if they are cost effective for fuel though.

I have that exact can; hate it. Less than a year old, the CARB spout jams up, so you have to just take the nozzle off and pour straight out of the jug and hope you don't get gas all over yourself.

Not the EXACT same. No CARB here.. Thats for you americans :D We still have the sense to not regulate gas can spouts... Who knows for how much longer though... You should make a road trip across the border and get some proper nozzles.

Is this the nozzle on yours?
