If it truly is an attempt to mislead a buyer, then I also have a problem with it.
For example, if this was sitting on a dealer lot, and they are the onle that repainted/stickered it, and advertised it as a deere, then that is a big no-no.
But for a casual homeowner who wanted a bushhog brand implement to match his deere tractor, and paints it green and throws some stickers on it, and then somewhere down the line it exchanges hands a few times, to me, it is what it is.
I dont know the whole story here, But I honestly dont think anyone is trying to be mis-leading here. But that is just my opinion.
I was actually lucky enough to be in the same situation only reversed last summer. I bought an 8' landscape rake with wheels that was painted ford blue to match the guys 3000. Turns out it was a deere rake. (after sanding to paint and uncovering green paint is when I investigated and found out).
I paid $150 for the rake. Cleaned up, a fresh paint job and factor deere stickers and I was able to sell it as a "deere rake" for $400:thumbsup:
Fact is, people paint implements to match their tractors all the time. While the stickers may be a bit much, I dont think the goal was to mis-lead. Heck, I put a chevy emblem on my brothers ford:laughing: Thought maybe that would make it run better:laughing:
