Nice rigs RustyIron!
How long is that trailer?

Nice. Like the tires on the flatbed.

The trlr is 30' flat if I swing the dovetail up to the flat position and I think the top deck is about 7' long. I've been slowly moving (myself) up to ME from MD . The truck camper thing is called a "toterhome" and is legally registered as a RV, therefore (yea) no scales, no fuel stickers, no log, no hassle! It's a pretty nice tow unit but you really need to have 40 acres to turn this rig around, 24'7" wb on the trk. (for sale when all moved)

THEY LIE

Just so you know their are two trip meters on the new truck trip A and Trip B
they both tell you time traveled miles traveled avg speed and avg millage. i have not reset trip B from the day i bought the truck. (i ordered it and got it with 3 miles on it) From the time i bought the truck to today i have avg 13.2 mpg's. The computer is Very close as i do hand cal. at each fill up and it is always ether on the money or .1+/- what i got.

I love my truck, but don't believe anyone who tells me that they avg 20+ mpg on one of these things. I have 3 other friends who have the same truck (different trim but all crew cab diesel 4x4) and the best any have avg for a tank has been a little better than 15 mpg.
The reason the avg is so bad is the regens. When you are cruzing down the road at 70mpg the fuel meter will show 20 mpg, but when you go in to a regen (for me about every 150 to 200 miles) the millage will drop to some where in the 12.5 to 13.5 mpg. It is even worst when driving in town.
It's one of those things i am willing to live with for the first 100k miles, but when the warranty is out i will get the tune that elimates the regen's to get the better millage.
I don't say this to be snobbish or eliteish but I tell everyone who ask about the millage if you have to ask don't buy it, it just means you can't afford it.

You must have a 6.4l then. I thought the new 6.7's have the extra exhaust fluid tank to do away with the regen. Only 3/4 or 1 ton that still does it is the 6.7 cummins?

The 6.7's still have to do a regeneration. The 6.4 in my '08 F-450 goes into regen about every 200 miles.

NEW F250/F350 will dump extra fuel in the black two cylinders to put extra raw fuel into the exaust to clean the DPT (diesel particulate filter). The exhaust fluid is sprayed after the filter. the exhaust fluid is urea and from what i understand when mixed with the exhaust it turns the exhaust into water vapor. . . at least that is what my sales man told me.

I too thought the new trucks did away with the regen's when they added the exhaust fluid, that is what got me in the market to buy a new diesel. after i found out otherwise i was still hooked on the truck and bought one any way.

This is correct. Fords new 6.7 (and GMs 6.6 LML) still have regens. Regens clean out the DPF (diesel particle filter) which catches soot particles. The exhaust fluid converts Nox to ammonia (I think that is the thing) and water vapor which are more or less harmless. It does this after the DPF. What this does is let them use far less EGR which is another way of dealing with Nox because it lowers the combustion temp and high combustion temps is what makes the Nox. With less EGR, they can have hotter combustion which makes more Nox but is more efficient and then get rid of the Nox after the DPF with urea.

Earlier I posted a photo of my B21 in my old 5' x 9' dump trailer. Attached is a shot of my B26 in my new 7' x 14' dumper. I usually travel with a couple of additional buckets for the hoe as well as the forks on the front with my bucket on them. As a result, even the 14' foot trailer is a couple of feet too short to allow me to close the doors so I have to bungee them. About two months after buying the new trailer I found a manufacturer that actually makes a 16' dumper which probably would allow me to close the doors. If I upgrade to an L45 maybe I'll upgrade trailers again too but I am done for now!
