Rotary Cutter King Kutter In Action...

I came across this video on Youtube and figured some of ya'll might like to see a King Kutter rotary cutter in action. It's a very good video in my opinion. Although I don't know who the people are in the video, it definately shows REAL "bush hogging" that we don't get to see too much of (yes, I'm a bush hogging/tractor enthusiast!). It also shows the durability of the King Kutter. If I'm not mistaken, the rotary cutter in the video looks like King Kutter's standard duty cutter. I used to own one in the past and i was well pleased with it.

I would love to be doing that job, if only the tractor was a Massey Ferguson or Mahindra! :laughing:

Pretty good video (I had my sound off). This looks like the brush I oftentimes cut when opening up new land.....now thow in some stumps and rocks....lol.

He does a good job of keeping his bucket down to get the brush laying over. Thanks for sharing! :thumbsup:

I have done a lot of cutting like that and worse. I always took a full cut. The next 2-3 years you will have lots of flat tires on those small stumps until they rot out. Ken Sweet

Neat. I am sorry to say I am not near good enough (or brave enough) to try that job. The most I can do is up to the bumber.:ashamed:

Two reasons:

-- I am afraid of what I can't see under all that brush (rocks, stumps, metal, wires)

-- I am afraid of what the brush will do to the underside of the tractor before it gets to the cutter. My CT 235 seems so exposed on the underside.

Perhaps irrational fears as I only have about 80 hours on the tractor.

I really only have a pretty small area that grows out-of-control that can get like the video quickly. I generally use hand-held brushcutters to manage.

For that size of a tractor that should be a cake walk. If I can push it over it is going under, usually it is back over it as what I mow over would cause too much sheet metal damage.

Not knowing anything about that video, I would guess it to be in Wisconsin. Just a wild guess, but would be nice to know where it really was taken at.

As for the bush hog, I would say he's not abusing it, but it is getting a really good workout. There won't be a bit of rust anywhere on that mower when he's done lol! I hope he checked his radiator screen every so often!

I notice too the operator is wearing hearing protection, good for him. I wouldn't run a bush hog like that without it either as noisy as that was. I think the bag hanging down from the ROPS is partly to help keep stuff from hitting the operator. Could be wrong about it though. The deer will hate him for cutting down all their bedding cover lol!!

I havent mowed stuff quite like that although I have mowed some serious stuff with my brush hog. :thumbsup: i did accidentally cut over a small tree once, about 4" in diameter and it was reduced to wood chips. My mower blade is probably really dull. :laughing::confused2: Now for the scotch broom which i constantly battle, I just mow right on over it. :laughing:

And, yet, many would suggest this an unaccomplishable task with such a mere piece of junk as a King Kutter. PhotoShop. Clever video editing. Pre-weakening of the underbrush via hatchet, machete, and chain saw. Yeah, that's what they did.

To that, in order to "really" cut growth like this you need the latest BrownBushRhino in chrome plate and diamond tipped blades. Nothing else will do and you better thank you're lucky stars that they only go for $25k new. Bargain for downing growth like that.


It's a wonder that cutter didn't fly apart at fantastic speed at first contact beheading the operator and destroying the tractor's PTO at the same which then didn't spark a fire which burned down the closest 8 neighbors' houses.

It's really quite amazing what a rotary cutter can do. I don't know if that is a 5' or 6' cutter, but for it's cost, that guy paid for it in one day's cutting. Most brands are amazing tools and tough as nails.

The only thing I saw that I did not agree with was the height of the cutter. It seemed to be dragging the ground. I'd want that cutter up 4" to 6" off the ground. In several scenes from the video, I could see brush piling up in front of the cutter and being dragged along because the cutter did not allow it to pass under. I've cut some brush areas very similar and very few of the stubs of the trees seem to be a problem because the cutter smashes and splinters them instead of leaving sharp stakes like beavers do.

Thanks Travis! That was a nice video and that fellow sure made that lot look better. Of course, in about a month he will need to do it again and it will really look swell the next time as grass reestablishes.:thumbsup:

You'd actually find it not to be not difficult or scary. Just a matter of going slow and keeping that bucket low. That, and paying attention to what you are doing...

First time I used my cutter, it was through stuff like that. Worst part was not knowing what was under all that stuff and very uneven ground.

I used to cut this way, but the skirts on my mower are beat to **** and folded in. Still need to straighten it out. I like seeing people use what they have and get the job done. Today, I use my skidsteer with mulcher to walk through stuff like that and wonder now why I abused my tractor just a few months ago. I have to admit though that my tractor is a garage queen that gets washed and waxed and when I do damage or tear up a part it is off to John Deere to get a new part.
