Hey Tom,
Glad to see you are GTG now.

To correctly check, tractor has to be shut down, and all the hydraulics have to be relaxed. Fel on ground all cylinders retracted,3PT lowered. Then see what is in the glass or on the dipstick.:)

I will only add let the tractor sit for about 10 minutes after it's shut down, and on a level surface.

So is it normal while running that the sight glass is empty?? Just seems lime there should be something in it while running.....

Tom,
Empty glass while running is normal.
It seems weird, but when it's running the tractor is "using the fluid",so it's not going to show
a full sightglass.

Tom

Greg is right, this is a good lesson in basic maintenance. Some fluids must be checked while the engine is running and some are not. Always ensure the tractor is on level; side to side and front to back. It's all in the manual. Also, when shutting the engine down to check oil always wait a few minutes for the oil to flow down into the oil pan and then pull the dip stick. It's easy to over fill if you don't. It will soon become second nature (the rest of us take it for granted).
Happy Tractoring!

Just to confirm with the others, YES, it's absolutely 100% normal.

just want to add this, the loader does not have position control so if there is leakage thru the valve or the cylinders, then you WILL have settling whether running or not.

I did notice carrying dirt yesterday that the curl on the bucket would move down, wasn't a big deal and wasnt much an 1"- 1 1/2" but I was going downs steep grade and was losing dirt if I didn't keep checkin it.
