Tractor radio?

If I'm on the 2305 then I will usually not have my headphones on. But if I'm mowing with the zero turn I will. I think mowers are so loud that you wouldn't be able to hear anything anyway. My Scag its always a belt that brakes is the reason that I have to stop.

Sounds like a good way to tear up a machine or get hurt I want to hear what the machine is doing. A lot of times it will let you know before its too late if you listen. But to each his own.

Right On. :drink:
It could turn into the most expensive radio he ever bought.

I've been wearing headphones while on the tractors since the early 70's. Fender mounted radio's prior to that. In all likelyhood, I average more hours on a tractor in a year than most people do in a flippin' LIFETIME. Never had any issues with music causing me to ignore a potential problem. YMMV, I prefer to keep my hearing intact w/noise reduction headphones/low volume music. As I stated in a previous post, SOME of us can walk and chew gum at the same time.

just setting on my tractor while it is running tells me 95% of what I need to know by the way the machine feels.

louder 'squaling' type problems that aren't felt can still be heard over a set of headphones.. unless they are blasting or you are already deaf.. or both.

I've used a fender mounted radio on my Kioti since I've had it (9 or 10 years now) and I almost always have the radio playing when I'm on my tractor (love to listen to football games while bushhogging).

I can hear the tractor and attachment run just fine while having the radio on and it doesn't seem too loud to me. I have run over stuff with the bushhog and heard it loud and clear.

I also use the tractor as a portable radio station, such as when I'm fencing or working on a remote barn that doesn't have electricity. I use it to just play the radio while I work near the tractor (tractor is not running) so I can listen to music/games and don't have to wear earmuffs/buds.

To each their own.

me too!

if I'm out doing a project or repair, I turn the tractor radio on.

I totally agree. See too many people still using cell phones and they scare me to death.

If you're going to drive, then drive. If you're going to chat on the phone of attempt to perform some other task that requires you to channel your one tract mind to something other than driving then for heaven's sake, pull over, take care of that business then go back to driving.

I seem to manage the operation of a cell phone while driving, and actually pay better attention to my driving than when I am not on it, but as was mentioned, some people can walk and chew bubblegum at the same time, some can't. I drive a LOT, and if I have to pull over everytime the phone rings, we need to change a bunch of laws about just where tractor trailers are allowed to park. I will say that I am not able to text and drive, nor can I surf the net on my phone while driving, nor program the GPS part of it to find my next stop, so I just DON'T do it. Why people insist that holding a phone to an ear is a safety prolbem is beyond me. Not paying attention to what one is doing is the problem and can be found in many accidents since the invention of the horseless carriage. Problem is, too many people are blaming the phones and not the people doing it.

sure it's an attention issue.. but the primary issue of a non hands free phone is .. well.. have one hand on the phone.. and the other hand multi tasking as they won't set the phone down.

I saw a lady driving and talking.. texting / talking with one hand.. driving with the other.. smoking a cig.. every now and then letting go of the wheel to flick the ash out the windo.. or to put the blinker on.. ie.. totally letting go of the wheel for seconds at a time :(

since just about all phones made today have speaker / hands free capability built in, or can use a bluetooth ear piece... that hand to the ear thing shouldn't be needed.

I agree.. i can talk and drive. same as with talking to a pasanger. i just war my bluetooth to do so..

Hi! I am new here! :)

I have in my JX 95 a Sony CD Radio. I installed also some Sony speakers instead of the originals, which sound really good, it can still be heard with the side windows open.

It is just a unit with CD, MP3/WMA support, and AUX-in. Pretty happy with it.

I too use the radio when I´m doing something around the tractor. Even when working, you can hear what´s happening outside.

Problems: I have it for 2 years now, and because of the bumps and such, sometimes it wonï½´t eject the CD, it will only have an edge of the CD out, which you have to grab it somehow.

I heard LG units are pretty tough...?

I installed a radio in my B3030. It sounds decent and works well. Hind sight though, I probably would buy a good noise canceling bluetooth headset and be done with it. I like listening to music from a mp3 or ipod and neither work as well though the head unit as they do straight to head phones. Most cell phones these days are an mp3 and can get online radio stations too.

If you do get a stereo and pull your headliner down, I recommend getting some Mylar bubble sheeting from your local hardware store, and insulating your roof. Your heat and a/c work half as hard.

I agree. While I installed stereo and speakers in my B3030 headliner, you really have to crank it to hear anything due to engine/hydro/general cab noise.
Maybe this winter I'll have the time to wire in a headphone jack. :)
