What Was The Best Deal You Ever Found On An Attachment?

Hi Guys,

It's no secret that TBN members are good at finding deals on pretty much everything. So I'm wondering... what was the best deal you ever found an attachment? Where did you find it? How much did you pay---or did somebody else score the deal just before you got there?

For me it's the latest deal. Victory is sweetest on the day of battle. Friday morning, The Plant Manager called me at work to give me the heads-up she saw that someone was selling 2 York rakes on CL. Told supervision "something's come up at home - have to run". Called the man - 1 rake already sold. Stopped at the Wall-O-Money on the way out and secured some cash. Got home, hitched the trailer and away we went.

Got to the gentleman's place - he had a veritable tractor museum on the grounds - & looked over the rake. It is a Leinbach 7'. A bit tweeked and missing a few tines, but nothing that can't be addressed with the OA torch, an anvil and a 3# ball peen hammer - or the hyd press, if that doesn't work.

The best part of the whole transaction was meeting the seller - a very interesting and sociable guy! He was still in shock that the guy who bought the first rake wanted the lighter one with good paint rather than the heavier one with "character" that he still had. We had a gam for an hour or 2 and parted feeling better than when we met. Us with the rake on the trailer & him with a wad of cash that still had that scent of ATM.

Ive found several. I usually pick up a trader paper, but one day I picked up a paper with a classified in the back. I was reading it and saw and ad for a 5 foot disk and a 5 foot rake 60.00 each. I called at 8 AM and talked to the lady on the phone and she said shed hold it. I figured the price it was junk or the rake was a leaf type. I got there and the Disk looked like an old Monroe tuffline with a flip up back gang and the rake was a 6 foot KK. Both in good shape. THe man was there and told me that the price was right just needed to move them. He had bought them to fix his 4 acre yard as he retired from farming.

Both implements were 6 footers and also in good shape for 120.
Was on CL and saw a listing for a Clamshell bucket for sale. It was inthe weeds. I gave it a call and the man said he was selling his business and it was a 4in1 bucket for a SKid steer for 600. It did have a damaged couple but it wasnt sprung and the bushings were in new shape and it was a COntruction Attachments brand.

My takakita Round baler I bought with an over tightened cutoff knife I got for 450 has baled several hundred bales .

When Im looking for and implement Ill just take a little time and usually I cant find one for the price I want.

4 foot spike aerator and a 6 foot rear blade, $60 for the pair - Craig's List, I was late seeing the post but it didn't matter since they didn't check e-mail again that night. They wanted $50, I put in the subject line that I'll be paying $60...

Now when I was looking for implements... it was a job looking through Craig's List every minute, of everyday for months.

i love a deal, and have score many that i have done well on, just last week i went to a local friday night consignment auction, and picked up three good bush hogs for a total $375, one was a 3pt howse 6 footer with a 65hp gearbox that i got for 150, second was a 3pt woods 6 footer good heavy gearbox no paint i got for 95, and finally the hd 6' trail type woods with a good gearbox and cylinder with hoses for 150

I listed the two 3pt's on cl on sunday and sold them both before noon on monday for 550, i litterally never touched them other than to check them before the auction, that leaves me $155 profit and a free hd woods 6 footer trail type that i will keep a while

but i must say that my best deal ever came from cl, a guy from missisippi had bought a large place near lexington ky, and posted a listing for farm equipment $200, he did not know what it was but he did not need it and wanted it gone, this is the photo he sent me

i had been looking for something to use to incorperate liquid nitrogen so i jumped all over it

it is a 12', batwing, 14 shank, spring cultivator, with spring loaded steel buster bar, and plastic bed layer, this barely had the original paint worn from the points, this was bought new to do custom tobacco plant beds just before everything went hydroponic, cost new was over $4000, it has the stainless steel tubeing behind the shanks and valve to spray the herbicide into the soil and was a very easy alteration to apply the ligud nitrogen.

my price was $200, and he delivered it to me on his way back to mississippi to get another load of equipment he was moving up, and he wanted it gone

Got a very heavy rear blade in trade for digging a neighbor a trench for his culvert. The trench only took me about an hour so it was probably a total cost of just a few dollars in fuel.

My best implement deal was a Dearborne disc plow in perfect shape for $80. The older gentleman that had it was quite a character, and I enjoyed meeting him.

A few years ago, I was at a farm sale, looking for a replacement rear blade for my Kubota. I saw a piece of machinery covered by a tarp, in the corner of a storage barn, and asked the owner what it was. He pulled off the tarp to show a 3 pt hitch snowblower (Ford brand) which he said "didn't work".
He said the pto turned, but the blower didn't blow. I asked what he wanted for it, and he said $125., which I quickly agreed to. I loaded it up, took it home, put 2 $.50 sheer pins in, and have used it for years. I have earned the cost many times over by clearing driveways and parking lots.

That would have to be $1400 for a haybine and rake both in excellent condition with extra blades thrown in for the haybine. Just happened to luck into a neighbor whose grandmother passed away and had the equipment to get rid of. It helps when the seller has no idea what it is they're selling. LOL:thumbsup:
