Gouged finish blade: Grind down or replace?

Struck a rock while mowing with my JD 2305 and 62C mower deck. Can I grind this out or should I replace it? I realize I'll have to even out the other side if I do grind it. Just seems like I have to take quite a bit off.

Sharpening blades is new to me but it seems easy enough for the other two blades on my deck that were not damaged.

I have an 4.5" angle grinder, a low speed bench grinder and some nice files so I have the tools. Just not sure if too much would have to come off.

if it isn't too much $$ and you can get it fairly quick, I'd replace it. My $.02.

Just called JD. I have to buy the set, can not just get one blade. Oh well, guess I'll have two spares!

When you Deere gets to the age of mine you will just leave a gouge or two, unless it is a gold course green...I used to have them perfectly smooth and sharpened evenly..My bermuda cannot detect the gouge.... I have spare set of blades so when they get dull..

i would just sharpen the gouge, it will cut.

Good grief, some of you would shutter to see my blades. Mine look worse than that after the first trip down my driveway. Sharpen it and forget it, it’ll cut just fine.

Yeap, my working buddy here, will not touch his blades for his Kubota, he runs them and discards them. I wish they fit my Deere??.

Do compare it to the "good" blades though to be sure you havn't bent the blade

otherwise sharpen it and go. you'll find as time goes on, mower blades end up with alot of dings like that, that can be sharpened out enough to do a decent job of mowing

I'm happy to hear so many comments on sharpening the gouged blade and using it!

I wasn't to excited to spend $70 only to have it happen again. My yard will probably never know the difference, and it just makes sense. Though I was looking at the excuse of trying out a mulching blade lit for the 62C. It's around $200 for the set of blades and baffles or something I believe. Haven't looked into much yet.

What I am pleased about is the ease at which my new air impact gun was able to handle the blade bolts as well as recently taking my tires off. I don't think I'll ever be without a compressor now!

Good deal getting the impact wrench, don't know how I got along without them.

I would touch up the blade reinstall and mow.
