More newbie kioti vs. Kubota

Agreed, the only reason I'm really contemplating a 50 is because of the kioti incentives, it's only 2000 to 2500 more. The height is only four inches taller and width is something like 6 inches wider with industrial tires, but way overkill for my purposes, maybe I'll just put that cash into attachments... Iw I'll have pics soon on whatever it is I buy... The itch is strong ... Hahaha

2000-2500 bucks more for a DK50se rather than a DK40se is a complete rip off! The ONLY difference between the two tractors is 400cc of engine displacement. Same exact engine just bored out. Tell me why it makes sense to pay 2500 bucks more to have the factory use different size pistons? There is only eight hp difference as I recall too.

With the identical chassis and loader and 3PT, the only real reason to have the extra HP with a 45 (44) or 50 (49) is if you have something driven by the PTO that takes extra umph. The other consideration is if you have a cab running a parasitic A/C then you might want to recover those lost HP.

I can run six foot mowers through pretty thick brush and a six foot tiller through unbroken turf without even using full PTO speed so unless you intended to move up to 7 or 8 foot rotary brush cutters or perhaps to pull a big plow I just don't see the advantage of paying Kioti all that money for using a different size bore when they build the engine.

Unless you really need the loader lift, a CK35 is the right size. Smallest frame with maximest HP. The DK35 is nice with the rear 3PH control, but it's a much bigger tractor. The sweet spots are DK40 or CK35. The cost difference here, will buy you some nice attachments, and attachments is what it's all about. Can't have enough.

I started with a Kubota B7800 with a 4690 backhoe. I then moved up to an L3400 that the backhoe would fit on. I wanted the 5 foot bucket to move more dirt quicker and a little more power. I have moved up to a DK45hst Kioti with a new 2485 backhoe. Size matters, I went from around 1100lbs lift to 2761lbs at the pins. I have yet to regret having a bigger machine. I only have 2 acres and have a 2nd piece of property that I am developing with the new machine. To get the comperable Kubota was $16K more insane!!!!! I like the Kioti just as well as the Kubotas and it has more features for a whole lot less $$$ Get all the machine you can use if you want to lift something you wont be mad you got the larger tractor, however if you want to lift something and are unable to you will wish you had more power. Just my 2cents worth 3rd tractor and wish I had gone big from the begining it has cost $$$ to upgrade each time.

I just want to thank everyone for their insight and helping me come to a decision... Pics will be coming soon as I have narrowed it down to a dk40 or dk50, or there is a used jd 3520 cab, but I just can't seem to justify the price for a new kubota. 9k more for a smaller kubota tractor than a dk40 cab version... Thanks again everyone. The dk40 comes with one set of hyd. In the rear, do I really need the top and tilt as I was being sold by another dealer. I'm going to get front hyd. For a grapple. I did test the ck series and B series, and it just didn't feel right for me. I will be getting a, 6 ft. Bush hog, box blade, front snow blade, rear snow blower, brush grapple, andrear snow blower... Anything else I may need????

Oh the cost for the dk40 is 28,795.00, the dk50 is 29,995.00, the used jd 2008 3520 is 22,950.00 with 95hrs...

Allow me to share a recent situation that really confirms my purchase decision 14 mos after the fact....my DK40 has been at my FIL's for the past 2 weeks and it is amazing how you miss it when its not there w/ you!! I rec'd a "free" 300 gallon fuel tank w/ about 80-85 gallons of fluid in it this past week. The guy at the other end had an older Kubota that could barely lift it high enough to get it in my p/up truck bed....w/ me backing under it. So, I get home. No DK to help with this. I get my neighbor's JD 790. It was all it could do as well to lift it so we could drive the p/up out from under it. Once I sat it down, I could only pick it up enough to "scoot" it to a resting place. For all the JD and Bota fans, these were smaller units and at the max end of their capabilities.....I fully recognize that and they did what I needed to do at the time.

That said, man I missed my DK40 and that K401 FEL!!!!! Brought my DK home this past Saturday.

Here's where I'm going w/ this.....the 3520 is a fine machine...especially anytime its a cab unit!!!! But take a close look at your FEL specs and what you plan to use that loader for......I know its not my $$ but I know you will not be disappointed w/ the DK vs. the 3#2# series JD. Sorry, can't remember what your planned uses are (can't go back to the 1st page in this mode, or I don't know how) but if you get a 3rd function valve w/ a joystick switch on the FEL, I think you'd be sitt'n pretty!!! I'm looking to piece together a 3rd function system in hopes of adding a top grapple/claw to my forks. Man....you should have seen the brush and crap I was picking up w/ just a plain set of pallet forks!!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

NOTE: Be careful w/ debris sticking out as you can & will break your front plastic grill housing (the grey section under the headlights). Bet ya can't guess how I know about that???

If you have hydraulics out the front and out the back, you are really set. You can adjust and add as you go and/or as you acquire hydraulic attachments.

Anyhow, I feel your agony on trying to decide what to get. It doesn't matter, b/c you'll look around a year later after buying your tractor and still be looking even when your looking at what you bought already......its just the symptoms of the tractor bug. Once bitten, there is no cure. It is terminal. So, my friend, pick out the Dk of your choice and enjoy it.:laughing:

Not such a bad differential between the DK40se and the DK50se. I am very happy with the power of my DK40se but with a cab running A/C I'd consider the 45 or 50 if the price bump was reasonable.

Regarding other implements to consider, forks would be next on my list depending on what type of work you are planning. They are very handy. I use mine not only for lifting stuff but also to dig like a massive shovel by attaching a QuickSpade. Not as efficient as a backhoe but very useful especially as they are much easier to mount/dismount for a smallish task. Works about ten times faster than a man with a pick and shovel.
