question about using a disc

   / question about using a disc #31
I read all of these Disking posts with interest. I only have two fields, ONE acre and THREE acres....the rest is hardwoods with a small amount of pine thickets. I have been using a box scraper with the diggers extended to gouge up the rocks....OMG...bucket fulls of rocks, from golfball to basketball size and they NEVER END. I actually have bent 4 diggers on my box scraper!!! The field is looking better but still has many, many baseball size rocks. The question is....it's almost time to plant deer crops, chicory, alfalfa and clover. I just bought a DISK.. (three point; light:laughing:) Are these rocks going to ruin the disks? You can't believe how many rocks I have bent over and tossed into the bucket.....and they just keep on re-producing:mad: Once I broadcast the seeds should I disk AGAIN to mix up the soil and seed? There is no irrigation and just rain to do the watering for me. RYE grew well last April....maybe again this fall? just to stir the pot....I didn't want a pulled disk because of the shop FLOOR (concrete) and the gravel road on the property.
Thanks

When steel meets rock something has to give. Either rocks rolls out of the way, disc rides (bounces) over it, or disc blade bends or breaks. The golf ball to baseball size probably won't bother but get rid of the baseketballs.

Grass seed should be worked into the ground, but not too deep. You have to be careful with the disc. Works better for me to drag it in. I have planted a few yards with good results use a piece of chain link fence going over it a couple times.
