stupidest welding question you have heard

Not a stupid question, but a stupid ad for a welder on the local c-list. Guy was advertising an "Air Conditioned Lincoln" welder. I'm fairly new to welders, but I've yet to see the air conditioned option on Lincoln's website.

Maybe he thought the AC "Alternating current" stood for Air conditioning. lol

After all we do say AC for air conditioning.

That would be cool though, a welder that doubles as an air conditioner. Hey maybe I should invent that. I could get rich.

That's what I figured happened. I got a good chortle out of it.

I have seen some equally stupid ads here, like one person was selling a rusty old woodworking jointer, without a fence, as a ''wood lathe, good condition''. I got a good laugh out of that one.

A farmer friend who used to drip some chicken scratch on a piece of metal every once in a while asked me "Why do you wear that hot goofy helmet? Just shut yer eyes and maybe look away on the long welds, that's what I always do anyway."

I said "What?"

He repeated himself.

I said "Oh. I used to do that but now I don't hear so well anymore since I do so much welding, that's why I use this goofy thing."

He said "I guess that might be a problem if you did it all the time."

I'll take two of the Air Conditioning/Drink Conditioning models when you have those available.

I'm subscribing to this thread to see if any more of the stupid questions I've asked pop up. I'm fine being called out because something I say or do is stupid. Admitting that I need help is the first step in getting help. I'd rather have you tell me that what I ask is stupid than have you keep it to yourself and laugh about me to your friends.

Bring it on!!!

Now I just have to make sure I lay off my 10% duty cycle welder for ten days so that I can weld all day on Saturday. I'm still not sure why I can't just load an old spool of baling wire into my MIG welder (After all it's just filler metal). I'm also planning to experiment with using JB Weld for a root pass and finishing off with 7024.

Glad you caught the humor. I was half afraid that I'd get a severe chastisement for my foolish ways. Life is too fun to be taken so seriously.
