ford f350 6.0

You threw out the challange trying to imply the 6.0 PSD is not up to your 7.3. I simply called your challange. I don't need to tow any camper, my current RV has a Cat C11 diesel that pushes it along just fine. The 7.3 PSD trucks I had were so bad that they drove me to drive a Dodge with a 5.9 for almost 10 years. It was a great truck by the way. However, as trucks age they will not be worth the expense after about 10 years or so because no matter how great any engine is, the rest of the truck will wear out if it's used. My only MAJOR, and it was major, expense with my Dodge was buying a transmission that would hold up. The 7.3 Fords share that exact same problem.

I had a leaking skirt gasket on my '06 F350 4X4 crew cab dually when I bought it, but it was covered under warranty. When it was replaced I had the tech, who lives, breathes and eats, diesel truck pulling install ARP head studs and a couple other little things. He told me that I'd have to try to tear it up and even then I'd have a hard time. Three years later with nearly 600 hp, it runs perfectly, will tow well more than it was designed to tow and has been 100% reliable. The transmission has been bullet proof as well. Combine that along with decent fuel mileage and I don't see how you could ask for more; especially when the truck is still worth more than I paid for it since I bought it when we had our first fuel prices topping $5 a gallon for diesel.

I'll keep this one for about 10 years like I've done with all my trucks that have been good trucks and then I'll evaluate what's on the market then. I have absolutely no clue what will be my choice in 6 or 7 years. About the only manufacturer that will be off the table for me is GM.

I was not putting down the 6.0...
I was just stating that a tweaked 7.3 is a good puller and can pull very well...
I've got a buddy of mine that bought a new 6.0 and he has had good service out of it with no glaring issues...
It was an early release too...
Go figure...
I've got 96K miles on my 7.3 now and the only thing I've had to replace was a fuel pump and alternator...
Tranny has held up well so far but the newer torq shift is a big improvement over the old 4100R...
I'll probably keep my 7.3 until the wheels fall off...
Hopefully until I retire...
With this economy who knows...

LOL, I say I keep my trucks around 10 years. Like you said, with this economy, I may have to keep it until I retire!

I've got 63K on my 06 6.0. Haven't changed out head bolts yet, but on the short list. Haven't even thought of when to replace it.....definitely not for several more years!!

I have 2 6.0's. ONLY leave with a load behind them about 90% of the miles. Usually 16,000# or more. One has 90K and the other 75K and never had a wrench touch either. Both chipped, intake, and exhausted for a extra 200HP.

Or in this economy until you do!! I know several farmers in my area will only deal with the 7.3 PS or 5.9 Cummins. They swear by them. There is one I talk to at the local co-op that just turned 400k (7.3). It is a 99 1 ton 2wd w/ a flatbed. Didn't they use the 7.3 in schoolbuses in the 90s and early 2000?

Chris and Dargo, I rode in one about a year ago, a 2006 6.0 single wheel F350 4x4 that was chipped, had some weird cold air intake and a huge exhaust. When set to the "fastest" tune, this thing is scary, pins you in the seat. His wife has a 06 or 07 Mustag GT (stock) and it can't outrun this truck. He had our local diesel tech replace the head bolts with ARP fasteners. The truck only has about 45k miles on it. I have never ridden in a truck that fast. Sort of reminds me of the s/c lightning, typhoon or syclone. Once that turbo spooled, which happens very quick, it took off. I had a friend who had a 1990 454 SS with Edelbrock aluminum heads, headers and a nice cam and his truck did not feel as strong as that F250.

Yea, no way a 454 of that era is anywhere near as strong as a modern diesel. I did all my mods for about $800 and like you said will eat Cameros and Mustangs all day long... I outran a buddies Firebird with my car haul trailer on the back of my F-250. He got me the second run but I sure did catch him off guard. This was back in 04 or so when this stuff was still pretty new so he did not know what to expect.
