This thread me of how much money we are NOT saving by "growing our own" vegetables....

By the time we pay for the soil amendments, starter plants, and water bills, we're probably paying about $10 a pound for those home grown tomaters!

(Kind of reminds me of the story about the guy who decides to save money by burning wood-First you need a chainsaw ($500), 3pt pto driven wood spliter ($2,000), tractor to run the spliter ($20,000), 4wd truck to haul the wood ($40,000), and the divorce lawyer for the divorce ($10,000)......feel free to build your own version of this old joke!)

Oh, did I forget the cost of the roundup to kill it off after the weeds take it over?

The things we do for love.....But man, are they tasty! Just try not to think about how much they cost....
