Dunno if a lion or tiger are faster, a grizz will sprint at 30 and are pretty quick as well as fast.It is something to see when they are gettin after each other. I have never seen lions or tigers tho except in the zoo.

That's y the bear you gotta watch out for the most is da mama bear! Have seen them back down boars almost 2x their size.

Not as exciting as a Bear or cute as Deer. But here's a picture of an Antelope Jack Rabbit. This guy has lived near my yellow gate for several years. Those guys are real shy and harder to get close to than a deer. When sitting it's a little over 3' to the top of his ears.

Rick, y'all don't get animal planet up there?:laughing: Kidding, I have seen black bears go at it, can't imagine a Grizzly. All a Griz would have to do is catch the kitty and it is over.

Dont have tv out here Dennis, too cheap to pay for sat. dish unless if is for the internet. Did you fotoshop that rabbit, would be nice to see one with antelope horns on it!

Rick, no, I downloaded from the net so I could send it to my neighbor. Told him I finally found a "buck" he can harvest:laughing:

BTW, how many people live on the island? A friend of mine did a Grizzly hunt there this summer, or a few months ago. They actually ran into the Discovery channel filming Grizzly hunting guides. I know he took a big one,and told me if I went he'd go too, but way out of my price range I'm sure.

There are @14,000 on the island with all but about a thousand living in the town of Kodiak in the ne corner. Where did your friend get his bear? I wish we had black bear on the island too, they r pretty tasty:licking: have to settle for our deer instead I guess.

I grew up down by Tombstone and down there are regular Jack Rabbits. I had only seen pictures of the Antelope Jack with antlers. So until moving here didn't believe there was such a thing as an antelope jack.

Also in this area are Antelope Squirrel, that's Chipmunk with a skinny tail.

I keep looking for those tiny little antlers.:laughing::laughing::thumbsup:

Crash, neat photo of the jackrabbit, It has been years since i saw one....they are so big compared to our cotton-tails...I did see some Swamp rabbits in Ark. nearly as big.

Crash, how do those Antelope Jacks taste? Looks like enuff meat on them for a huge pot of stew!
