Show me a little Toyota Hilux that can tow 10k lbs plus while taking some punishment.
Here's a truck that can do both.

By the way, that truck was fixed after every test before seeing if it still ran. ANY truck can run after that "punishment" if it's fixed first...

Define fixed?

No spares were used on the Hilux. Wrenches and hammers only. Oh and a bit of WD40 to FLUSH OUT THE OCEAN!.

Take that old dodge, strap it to a 240 ft building then implode said building. Light it on fire, then Park it in the ocean for 4 hours underwater.

Let me know after you do that if it runs and moves under its own power and ill revise my statement.

I own both a first gen Tacoma/hilux and a last gen F150 thats never seen more than hauling a tractor and trailer. The ford is rotten both the body and the wiring. Just had to rewire the entire starting system... thats just the latest issue, nevermind the rear end, trans, engine issues. Every month its something else.

I can hop in my Tacoma, thats 8 years older, been ran hard offroad, with more miles and it starts every time. Its never needed anything other then coil springs and ordinary maintenance.

Personally, my truck has to get me to work, haul construction materials and tow a car and travel trailer. Falling off of a skyscaper isn't in the cards. Mine last 200K trouble free miles and get better MPG than a V8 Tacoma, which is as close as Toyota can get to a GMC 6.2 4x4. The questionable characters in Afghanistan may love them, but I'll keep my GMC, and will buy another GMC/Chevy in another 188,000 miles. By then, something better will be available, or I'll run it longer.

I don't really care for the US version of TG. They just don't have the chemistry and half of what they do is just what the Brits already did. The one show they did that I did watch most of is when they bought cheap trucks and went to Alaska to test them. But they usually favor the big three.

As for Toyota I'm sold. When they decided the frame on my Tundra was too rusty they replaced it free, an 11 year old truck and they replaced the frame. A guy i work with has a year older GMC and his frame is so bad it will not pass inspection. Good luck getting GM to do anything. I just wish Toyota would get into the 3/4 ton (and even the 1 ton) market.

I didn't even realize what I was watching because I didn't watch much of it but didn't the Ford break an axle or have the retaining clip pop out while trying to go up a small hill?

Yes, he then put a bar across the wheel to keep it in and drove without rear wheel drive the rest of the way. He would have probbaly finished if he hadn't dumped his spare at the end for the hypermiling run.

Also, I would have laid the carpet across the road and driven on it rather than flip the truck, make a carpet track or make the plank contraption.

I just wish Toyota would get into the 3/4 ton (and even the 1 ton) market.

Your not the only one!!.

I had high hopes when Toyota had that concept 3/4-1 ton? Dually powered by a 8L HINO engine..Eaton trans, Hino rear, Theyre really missing the advertising boat here. Allison vs Eaton trans, Hino vs PS or DM engine.. etc. etc. The truck could be a game and company image changer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhJlseAY0E0

Id be all over that if it was available with a SRW. A high torque diesel in a 3/4 ton would kill the "Toyota cant tow" or "toyota ain't a working truck" argument.

Heck, id settle for the Current Hilux with the 3.0 diesel. Why toyota hasnt brought it over is beyond me... I bet theyd sell every one they could bring in.... Chicken tax maybe? :mad:

Dmace, I give you too much credit I guess. If you believe tires and more importantly the driver had nothing to do with the hill climb you are blind to one brand, but we all knew this. Let's talk about the drag race or how the Torque Monster Ford burnt the tires for a good 2 minutes prior. Give it a rest.
