I posted reviews on both a few months ago. In short, performance is similar. The Terex has a few areas it beats the Bobcat and the Bobcat has the same. A huge factor is going to be the dealer support in your area. Also consider some of the negative experiences posted on hear by Terex owners. My demo was just 8 hours on each machine.

Keep in mind the Bobcat is 83 inches wide...your mower only cuts 60 inches.

Timberwolf, have you tried the new 289c or the 299c from CAT? I run 2 Cats and the MTL that you have is different from the new ones. It has an all new design of undercarriage than yours. Its like Fish said, "quality of service." Thats why i'm for CAT. I too have demoed the terex. Didnt like the plastic fuel tank outside on the fender waiting for a limb or dead tree to fall on it, or the muffler in the belly pan. It did have good hydraulic preasure. The rep never called me back on the terex hydraulic HP, but i would also consider that in my decision. I also like the new BOBCAT that has come out. I believe the radiator has a different design from the older ones. Also think the cab has more visibility room for the operator. I have never ran one, but have heard good things about them.

Yea,I have heard recently about CAT coming out with a more purpose built carrier. Looking forward to seeing what its about. As far as the fuel tank outside on the Terex, my experience with the CAT fuel tank inside the motor compartment has been a living nightmare. I accidentally sheared the bolt heads off the oil access/cleanout plate on the rear of the machine while doing a job and ran a 4 inch tree in the motor compartment busting the fuel tank.Being non repairable it wound up costing me $2700.00 and about 2 weeks downtime. Got it back and was using it at home doing a little light grading the very next day and the shaft that drives the hydraulic pump backs out of the flywheel causing the machine to be useless once again. The air conditioner condenser coils are located in almost an impossible area to access much less clean.Oh and the squirrel cage fans beneath your feet that transfer the air into the cab, that's another story. Lets see, did I leave anything out ? OH LAST BUT NOT LEAST, My machine caught fire back in the winter and my dealers svc dept manager wanted to preach to me about the importance of cleaning out the motor compartment on a regular basis,in which i do. You can't clean out something that is impossible to do unless you pull the motor. And to top it all off it started up around the turbocharger, melted the fuel line on top of the tank and that purty much done it. I'm sorry to vent but it"s been one of those years. I get on here and start reading about the bad experiences with other machines(PT100)and I'm just confused on what my next move should be. Thanks for letting me vent
.Lol:mad:

I happen to know a guy that tested the CAT prototype running a mulcher. It turned into a marshmallow roaster.

LMAO! Glad i can help. I havent had any of those problems. YET! we have an updated forestry package that pretty well seals a lot up. not everything but a lot. Sorry its been bad for you. The a/c condenser, i agree with you. They should have come up with a better solution. As far as down time, my service department finds me a machine to use if its 2 days or longer. Its little things like that i like. Tide water has a really good deal on Lamtrac and a few ASV.

I ran Cats for 3 years worst mistake i ever made, problem after problem. Fire after Fire an Yes I kept them clean, i even went as far as building a bracket on the top of the cab to keep my blower close by.
