You just have to feel good about yourself for the work you are doing.

I imagine that when you are living in your log cabin that feeling will never go away.

Great job!

You're making me want a mill.

It's only a Woodmizer LT15, but it does everything the bigger one's do, but slower and without hydraulics.....all muscle...it either keeps me in shape, or allows me to drink more beer:thumbsup:

My buddie stopped back by and finished hooking up the switche boxes. I went with 3 gang so I know I have enough switches for anything:

I have a dedicated carving saw(Stihl 170) with a dime tip carving bar. It is perfect for this kind of detail work. I marked it all out, then cut everything and did not have to break out the chisels:

The 1/2" EMT will continue to the top of the wall where I can route wiring to fans and lights/etc.

I'd be tempted to buy some of the low expansion expanding foam, or at least some good caulk, to fill in around the conduit. Also, will that really thin piece of insulation really keep air out. Looks like the logs would shrink more than that????

All vertical joints will get caulked inside and out. I used a moisture meter and did a random check of my logs. All except one were down in the 15-19% range which means the cedar has already done 95+% of it's shrinking.

Hi there; I live in Alberta and built my own home - a timberframe. I too had to have an engineer sign off on my plans. Oddly enough it was hard to find one that would - or better stated "could" do it. First guy I called had the word Timber in the company name, but when I told him I,m building a timberframe he said "is that like a log house?". Well, I went with a different guy but I had to supply him with the deflection formulas for Douglas Fir. Anything outside of stick built and your in for a fight with building inspectors, appraisors, Insurance companies and in my case banks.
