Thanks for the explanation, it makes more sense to me now.

My 1991 Ford Explorer, Eddie Bauer edition has to be hands down the worst thing I every bought that had a motor. Bought it brand new, wife told me we had to keep it 20 years, big mistake. This was our first car with air, leather, sunroof, etc.
After the warranty was up the air conditioning went, had to replace the whole unit because of the Freon upgrade. Then the head gasket went, had to have the heads remachined flat. Rad had to be replaced, then the 4 wheel hubs 3 times, last time went to Warren hubs. It was green in color and over the years parts of it turned white, bad paint. Then another rad, then the whole engine was replaced and within a few months the transmission had to be rebuilt. Then the 3rd rad. Then the air conditioning went again but did not bother to fix it. Then the 4 X 4 switch would only work if you had been driving for awhile, seems like the car had to warm up first. There were some other issues as well. Last fall it went to the crusher, not sad to see itgothere at all.
On the bright side:confused2: I bought a Ford Ranger Supercab 4 X 4, two reasons I got it, really was the type of vehicle we needed, got a smoking deal on the price as it was model year end and we ended getting $1,000. from Ford Credit for junking our Explorer and another $300. from the government as well for junking it. Never thought I would get $1,300.
for that badly rusted
out piece of junk. Of course the wife asked why I got another Ford, said whoever built the Explorer was probably retired
by now.

Ultimately, if any labor is going to be covered, that is up to the person/business who installed the part.
