Loader Snowplow

So i have started to work on a snow plow off of my old dodge to make it fit on to the loader of my tractor. All is going well i got the valve body and all of that good stuff. How ever i am running in to a snag. The pump that came off of the truck ran from a belt. The main pulley was the crank pulley down to about a 6inch pulley. So i know that the pump is way to high speed to be shaft driven off of the pto. So i am looking for is suggestions and or ideas. I am in the process of looking for a pto pump how ever they are costly.

yup.. major costly, plus they heat the hyd oil so much that it needs a large reservoir to store it and allow it to do some cooling. Mine has a 50 gallon tank.

Oh cripes i was thinking about that, humm i could put an oil cooler inline to take care of that as well. The thing i was thinking i can shut the pto off when i am not needing it being that it is right there. Would a oil cooler from say a truck restrict the flow to much to the pump? I am not using the pump to lift the blade, i am just using it to turn the blade. I have single action rams so i dont need constant pressure to keep the blade turned.

Why not just tap into your tractor's hydraulics to turn the plow? If you do a little searching here, you will find many who have done the same.

Agreed. Just get a third function kit for the loader. They sell them on "Everything Attachments". I think they're about $800.00. Then you have that function for a grapple bucket, auger, etc. I'm going to set mine up to have a hydraulic quick attach like my Bobcat too.

Yes, for a plow you don't need another hydraulic pump. Many people simply use the curl circuit for angling, others add a remote and use that, either way will be easier than adapting an underhood truck pump for pto use.

The pic grs posted is for a loader mounted hydraulic snowblower, that requires a lot of flow constantly, those need a PTO pump as tractor hydraulics cannot drive the blower fast enough.

I wish it was as simple as connecting in to my curl function and adding another remote. I dont have a 3rd function nor do i want to have to reconnecting and disconnecting lines in the middle of winter. This has to be easy on easy off as its going on the tractor i use to feed cattle.

The curl function is a good idea if i were to put high pressure three way ball valves in line shut the lines off going the curls and then plumb into my turn cylinders. I will have to look and see how my single action rams are made up, i dont know as if that is going to work with out a valve body to allow the other cylinder to spool back.

You know, my mistake. I misread the original posting to mean your adding a front mounted BLOWER not a plow. For a plow all you would need to do is run it off of the tractors hydraulics. I agree adding a separate hydraulic pump just for blade angeling would be too much. They have remote power kits or electric dividing valve kits available.

Noprob... the only thing is now i probably wont see snow for 10 years LOL
