It helps me understand that I'd never purchase any of your products.....
That business model is exactly what has gotten this country into the position it's in. My take and business model is you mature a concept through design and execution and then produce that design in house, utilizing modern production techniques and LEAN manufacturing and keep the product domestic and sell the product offshore, not the other way around.
When profit margin is the sole motivator and cheaper manufacturing is available offshore, the prime directive is to outsource offshore, but that eliminates jobs for domestic workers and cheapens your reputation.
J. Paul Getty summed it up very well. "It takes money to make money'.
Instead of an idea subcontracted out, you should have built your infrastructure around your product, making capital investment in machinery to produce your product in house. Applying that business model, you'd have control over quality as well as pricing. Now, you may have a quality product but are at the mercy of suppliers that have a sole directive to make money with your product quality secondary.
Basically, a desk, phone and idea don't promote or perpetuate domestic economy.
