The word on the SCUT version is that it passed the tests nicely but it needs a longer screw end to fit some tractors. We've asked our Kansas City manufacturer to get some to try out on the cat 0 unit and are waiting for them now. Although we have no doubt that it will work on the BX series and the like, we want to see it go through the paces to be certain, before we release it.

Thank you for your support. Our Kansas City manufacturer does not have a retail outlet there. They only sell to dealers and distributors. However, there are several options available to you:
1. Pick an online dealer at HydrauLink Sales
2. Closest US-made dealer is Surplus Center https://www.surpluscenter.com/sort.asp?catname=&byKeyword=yes&search=hydraulink
3. Or find a local Tractor Supply. They will either have it in-stock or can order it for you.

That's too bad. I would purchase two tomorrow If I could go somewhere local to get a locally made product. And I would show and tell all of my friends, who would also do the same. The average tractor count per household around here is three, btw.

Sorry about that. It's not a from a lack of effort or desire. We are adding vendors as fast as we can.

I purchased the Hydraulink yesterday from the manufacturer in Rogers, AR. They are very nice people. The unit so far seems to do exactly what I expected - stay on the tractor and adjust the pitch of the implement. I have a box blade attached right now and only played with it for a few minutes. I was able to adjust the pitch quite dramatically within about 10 seconds. If I had my old toplink, it would have been at least 2-3 minutes to get off the tractor and start turning the link all the way to get the BB to pitch up as much as I had wanted.

This unit "automates" the top link process without adding any functions of a stick-controlled remote. It is a pretty straightforward product and with the limited time I've had with it so far, it seems to be a product I am happy with. I'll have to try it next on my brush hog the next time I am where my tractor is kept.

I'm a bit confused. My SCUT is a Kubota BX24, and though the top link is short it is cat 1. Do you already have a cat 1 out that fits a SCUT, and working on a cat 0 for SCUT?

They are already selling what they call a Cat 1 top link but that really only determines the pin sizing. Top link lengths tend to vary by tractor size even when they're all cat 1. So, their current Cat 1 top link is long for the typical SCUT. It is 19" fully retracted and 28" fully extended while your BX is something like 14" fully retracted and 22' fully extended (from memory). The SCUT version will be shorter overall. That all said, if you use a 3PH quick hitch that moves your mounting points further back, their current cat 1 top link might work for you.

Argh! So, the Cat 1 top link is too long for the BX and the shorter link under development will be Cat 0. Guess I'm out of luck....

Sadly, times are hard all over. You should know that we don't have a plant at all. We've not built one or anything like that. We contracted out our manufacturing by partnering with other companies. One of which is in Nebraska, the other is in Kansas City. The latter company has a plant overseas that builds their rams for them. The former builds them here in the US.

The decision to take on a second manufacturer was not taken lightly. We have a business with employees and investors that depend on the company to make good decisions to keep the company profitable. Otherwise, we too would be unemployed. We have to stay competitive in the market we're in.

If you read the early parts of this thread, you'll find a good number of TBN-ers saying that HydrauLink was too expensive and they weren't alone. We had to make a change in order to succeed.

That's best way I know to explain it. I hope it helps.

It helps me understand that I'd never purchase any of your products.....

That business model is exactly what has gotten this country into the position it's in. My take and business model is you mature a concept through design and execution and then produce that design in house, utilizing modern production techniques and LEAN manufacturing and keep the product domestic and sell the product offshore, not the other way around.

When profit margin is the sole motivator and cheaper manufacturing is available offshore, the prime directive is to outsource offshore, but that eliminates jobs for domestic workers and cheapens your reputation.

J. Paul Getty summed it up very well. "It takes money to make money'.

Instead of an idea subcontracted out, you should have built your infrastructure around your product, making capital investment in machinery to produce your product in house. Applying that business model, you'd have control over quality as well as pricing. Now, you may have a quality product but are at the mercy of suppliers that have a sole directive to make money with your product quality secondary.

Basically, a desk, phone and idea don't promote or perpetuate domestic economy.

No, the shorter one will be Cat 1, meaning the pin sizes at both ends of the cylinder will match up to your BX or just about any SCUT.

Very well stated.
