My lovely wife built my computer, she has 2 degrees from college as experience in the computer field.
My hinomoto was built in Japan = no slaves there
The branson was built in NORTH Korea = none there either
Yanmars = nope...

Besides, Steve Jobs CHOSE to have his company's products built in China.
He PROFITED from it, and he made the choice.
There's no getting around that.

Only one point if I may... wasn't the bulk of Apple production moved to China under CEO John Sculley at a time when Jobs had no ownership of control of Apple?

personally if we could throw away all the computers and cell phones, the world would be a much much better place.

Not me, I love living in the bush but having internet makes it perfect out here. Weither I use it to get parts to fix something, gather information to do something I know nothing about, or just to shoot the breeze with some different folks on the front porch, it is great for me and wouldnt want to be without it!

You do have to go thru a lot of chaff sometimes to find the wheat on the internet but that is true of a lot of things.

I have read the bible a few times but have yet to find anything there on how to fix the hydraulics on my tractor or many of the other things I have learned right here on tbn

Jobs put borders and a few book retailers out of biss.
Plus (almost) everything Apple sold was made in Communist China..for pennies, then sold for big bucks.

OH COME ON NOW.... Are you serious. How about the Billion people that have started businesses form Steve Jobs....well? If you're going to blame him for borders, then you must certainly give him credit for the millions of people who sell things on Ebay. How about the other billion people that sell things on craigs list. Then he certainly gets credit for saving everyone here on TractorByNet millions of dollars by tractor tricks and price checks. OH WAIT I guess jobs then gets credit for saving people billions of dollars in stamps and telephone charges - huh. Do you want me to go on for another hour or do you get my point.

Now for the Communist China thing. I hate to break it to you, but most things in your house come from China, parts in your car come from China, the clothes you have i your closet come from China, the Tractor you own has parts from China, most products you buy come from China in some way or another.

So to single out Apple when most companies on the planet purchase something from China is ludicrous.

I remember when digital cameras first came on the scene(remember the first 2.4 megapixel ones!)... wasn't long before reports of Kodak jobs losses were reported... initially 50 000... most over seas.

As technology changes employment fluctuates. When I first started my career/job 25 years ago I had a knowledge base that replaced 5 employees/positions on paper at the company.
When I first got into Macs we needed support, tech and outputting services which generated work for about 3 people locally.

All comes around... think of the employment numbers of Walmart world wide and USA vs the suppliers employment of China... just a thought!

Most things in my house are made in the USA, I go out of my way to buy American items, not Chinese CRAP.

My tractors don't have any Chinese garbage on them, except for the plastic cup holder.

Im not singling out Apple, its what everyone else is talking about here.

I see by your posting history that Jobs is like a hero to you, (nothing wrong) with that at all, we all have ours...

Kind of ironic as I believe Kodak pioneered the digital camera.
